Samsung SSNLF, +0.00% warned customers Wednesday about its washing machines after one blew up on a Georgia woman. The top-load machines in question were made between March 2011 and April of this year, the company announced. We are in active discussions with the (Consumer Product Safety Commission) to address safety issues, according to a company statement. In rare cases, affected units may experience abnormal vibrations that could pose a risk of personal injury or property damage. But Samsung washing machine owner Melissa Thaxton, 32, of Dallas, Georgia, said her machine actually blew up. It was the loudest sound. It sounded like a bomb went off in my ear, Thaxton told ABCs Good Morning America. There were wires, nuts, the cover actually was laying on the floor. Samsung is telling customers to use the lower-speed delicate cycle when washing bedding, bulky or water-resistant materials. There have been no incidents using this cycle.

Food could "explode" with flavor. Just sayin'.
From an early press release of Samsung, they did attempt to put the catastrophic failures in perspective: "Consumers should note that [X number of] billions of wash loads didn't have a problem."
Can we gift one to Hillary’s campaign???
Wow!!! It must take real talent to make an explosive washer!
I have never loved a washer and dryer before I got my LG's.
Had Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE and they all crapped out before 10 years. So we thought we’d try LG. No complaints so far......
Hard water, and especially iron rusted pipes can make your dishes and clothes dingy........Try a water filter?.........
My wife exploded a microwave oven once.
She tried to cook an egg.
By exploded, I mean the egg turned into a yellow green mist that hung in the air; the door to the oven was completely ripped of both hinges and latch and lay on the floor on the other side of the room; and the circulating fan in the top of the oven had the blades wrapped around the motor.
#47 Use Baking Soda. I buy the 4lb boxes at Wal-Mart for about $3.
Half a small scoop will soften the clothes and helps clean them too with the laundry detergent. My towels are now soft and absorb water instead of repeal.
Overly-complicated, essentially unrepairable junk, that’s what most new washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, etc sold these days are. With replacement parts priced to maximize the customer-raping. Whatever the brand, although Samsung are probably among the worst.
Eggs can be dangerous in a microwave oven.

I have one of those top loading washers. Another “feature” is rusting around the bleach dispenser and inside (hidden) rim. Samsung isn’t accepting responsibility, so the fix is to disassemble, strip and seal against future rusting. Otherwise it works really well. ;)
I make egg McMuffins in the microwave. No problem if you puncture the yolk, and use low (3) power. Takes about five minutes though using jumbo eggs.
a Chinese report last week said some of the exploding phones had been tampered with to make them explode.
they were hoping to get money from the fraud.
so yes there is a problem, but maybe it is exaggerated.
I know it won’t help with hard water, but a few weeks ago I purchased some tennis-ball-sized woolen balls at our local farmers’ market. When thrown in the dryer with your clothes, they make fabric softener unnecessary. They came with a couple of magnets to place in your dryer to reduce static. I have not used fabric softener since I started using them! They really work! Nice for me too, I have trouble with fragrance and they are fragrance free.

Thanks I ordered some for the dryer.
