The first post-hot mic poll is out, and it suggests that Donald Trump is in deep, deep trouble

Even before The Washington Post reported on a 2005 recording of Donald Trump making crude comments about exploiting his celebrity to sexually assault women, Hillary Clinton's campaign was on the upswing. Her strong performance in the first presidential debate had pushed her national polling numbers up fairly quickly. Not as quickly as after the party conventions, mind you, but even before a new NBC-Wall Street Journal poll released on Monday, she led by about five points.

Then the new poll came out. As always, one poll could be an outlier. This poll has a relatively high margin of error of about 4.6 percent. It's always worth being cautious until more polls come in. But with all of those asterisks applied, the results of the poll are dramatic.

Clinton leads Trump in a four-way contest by 11 points with likely voters. In a one-on-one race, she leads by 14. That's up from their last polls by five and seven points, respectively.

I am not surprised. His defenders use the straw man argument that Trump said the P word ignoring the context that he gloated over his power to grab women by their P (Sexual assault) and get away with it. That puts him in the same boat as Bill Clinton.

I like what the man stands for and will vote for him but the man is a jerk. This will kill his chances to win the election.

If nothing else, the LA Times tracking poll is good for following trends. It was very encouraging that after only a small drop yesterday, the spread rebounded a full point in Trumps favor overnight.

It’s a 7 day rolling poll, but there was not a bad Trump polling day that fell off today. So he’s holding well in that poll.

In light of the attempted coup of the weekend, I think it’s not tin foil worthy to hypothesize that this NBC poll is simply part of the act.

I completely agree with you that Ryan et al were aware of the tape and cheered its release for exactly the reasons you posit. I am not sure if that applies to Mike Lee; but Ryan, no doubt whatsoever. What a complete slimebag.

I know it’s just rural Ohio....but there’s Trump signs everywhere and NONE for Hillary, literally. That said, driving between Ohio and Michigan I see ZERO bumper stickers and if I see a sign, it’s for Trump.

IMHO....last night was the most difficult position I’ve EVER seen a candidate in. The DNC and the GOP were against him. They dropped a 50 megaton nuke on him with the tape. Then they fired every AK47, RPG, IED, MOAB, etc. at him. Once they were done firing all their ammo........a man emerged and still beat them. Last night was an earthquake, they gave him EVERYTHING they had.

Today, DJT rose out of the ashes and stood tall, over ALL OF THEM. He became stronger and also put Hillary on notice, she’ll be in jail. I must imagine they’re in an absolute apocalyptic panic right now. They’d BETTER have more dirt that is far worse, otherwise it’ll be irrelevant and they KNOW IT. With Wikileaks he can hammer it all home, put her on the defense the entire rest of the way.

I don’t think they really care. In fact, I think they would prefer that we conservatives were NOT in their party.

They know it is a two party system (but really one party). They know the other party will nominate liberal-socialist-communist candidates, which frees them up to go more liberal.

They know voters have to choose between bad and awful.

If the conservatives leave their party, they then have no opposition with which to deal, and have a clear shot at moving toward their goal even more quickly.

I think they view us as pesky little ants at a picnic.
That’s why I may just stay in, to annoy the heck out of them ~ ha!

Seriously, if Clinton wins, political parties will be the least of our concerns. Surviving and keeping our loved ones fed, sheltered, and shielded against the gov’t criminals will more than likely be the order of the day.
