Jonathan Gruber, an MIT economics professor and an architect of Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable Care Act, has been out of the spotlight for months. But Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump just dragged him back into it.
During Sunday nights debate, Trump brought up Gruber by name, saying that health care reform, colloquially called Obamacare, was a scam.
You know that, because Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare, was said he said it was a great lie, it was a big lie, Trump said. President Obama said you keep your doctor, you keep your plan. The whole thing was a fraud, and it doesnt work.

I’ve seen the tape where Gruber said we were too stupid so we had to be lied to.
FUJG
Gruber: THAT’S A LIE!
No MSM drive by reporter ever: Which one? When you said it was a lie or when you didn’t say it was a lie?
except those who are getting it for free. they dont care..
it was a classroom setting!!!!
To whom it may concern:
Only three teams out there-
1) Moochers - play on your guilt
2) Scammers - reach in your pocket by scheme of “law”
3) Producers - Creators and honest hard working citizens!
Your team decides how you vote, The Donald is a producer as are most Americans at their core hence his popularity (the dreaded populist movement)!
Boston talker Howie Carr brought up Gruber early last week, iirc. Didn’t hear why the topic was forefront that day, just that Gruber was on record saying he basically scammed the states [and got rich doing it.]

Best. Debate. Ever!!!!
“Ive seen the tape where Gruber said we were too stupid so we had to be lied to.”
It’s sad to say but in its most cynical sense, Gruber is right.
A good chunk of the American population cares only who’s gonna win “American Idol”, what their best Groupon deal was and how many apps they have on their iPhone.
And sadly enough, those people vote.
Tough guy, huh?
Heck even Gruber said that the American people were idiots to believe that Obamacare was about healthcare..it was all about the bigger picture..SINGLE PAYER..something that Hillary Clinton wants for America
In his own words:

Obamacare Architect: Yeah, We Lied to The “Stupid” American People to Get It Passed - Katie Pavlich
“You can’t do it political, you just literally cannot do it. Transparent financing and also transparent spending. I mean, this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes the bill dies. Okay? So its written to do that,” Gruber said. “In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in, you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical to get for the thing to pass. Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but Id rather have this law than not.”
And how many million$ was Gruber paid as a co-conspiritor in foisting that scam on the American people? I think Grand Larceny sounds about right. Gruber might wind up as “Bruno’s” b!**h in a Federal slammer somewhere.
The videos of Jonathan Gruber never got the coverage they deserved. Hope that changes now!
From what I can remember the MIT Economics department has always been on the leftist/socialist side of things economic. Lester Thurow comes to mind as a good example of thinking of that department. So Gruber thinking he can “design an optimal top down state directed medical system” is typical of the arrogance I have seen from graduates and faculty over the years.
Somehow, I’d bet Gruber and all the 0bamacare architects made big bank writing it. Check their bank accounts and all their family’s safe deposit boxes for large bundles of cash...
Grubering was the term in 2014.

MIT economist Jonathan Gruber may not have been a household name, at least before this week, despite his being described as the architect of Obamacare and, previously, Romneycare in Massachusetts.
He sparked a furor this week after video surfaced of his talking about the stupidity of the American people, among other insults aimed at the voting public. Now Republicans have pounced, inventing a brand-new word: Grubering.
Heres what you need to know about Gruber and the controversy thats still swirling.
I’ve heard the name Jonathan Gruber a lot this week, but what happened and who is he?
Hes an MIT economics professor famous for his critical role in advising the Obama administration on the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Hes known as the architect, although Democrats involved with the laws passage take issue with the title.
Before Obamacare, he also advised the creation of a similar law in Massachusetts, sometimes called Romneycare, after Mitt Romney, who was governor of the Bay State at the time. Despite some resistance to the term architect, Gruber joined the presidents transition team in 2008 and no one disputes he played a key role in the laws creation. The Washington Post reports he was also paid “almost $400,000” for the work, controversial in its own right.
Gruber has made controversial comments in the past, but they dont compare to the comments that came to light this week, six videos in total and counting including one where he refers to the stupidity of the American voter. In another, when talking about Obamacare tax credits, he said, American voters are too stupid to understand the difference.
If you have a law that makes explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it wouldnt have passed, Gruber said in a video from 2013. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage and, basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever. But basically that was really critical to getting the thing to pass.
