Varney just announced that Ryan said he would not campaign with Trump, but would instead focus on House races. And, McCarthy was said to tell House members to focus on their own races (my read - don’t campaign with Trump).

The e-mails also revealed that back in 2015, the Clinton campaign strategized about ways to elevate Donald Trump and other "extreme" Republicans -- as "Pied Piper" candidates who would ultimately be so "unpalatable," they'd help her win.

Interesting window into inside the beltway thinking. I bet Jeb and company believed they had a better chance against Crooked than Trump does - that’s the same calculus in the DEM e-mail, that Trump would be easiest to beat, Hillary is counting on Trump getting the nomination, and if a different Republican ran against her, her fight would be more difficult.
