Fox News Anchor: 'You and Everyone You Know Are Dead, and Your Kids Die, Too.' [HURRICANE MATTHEW]

Look, Hurricane Matthew is going to be bad. Real bad. It's currently a Category 4, and there's a good chance it will be the strongest hurricane to hit the mid- and upper-Atlantic Coast of Florida in years. There will be extensive property damage. The Kennedy Space Center is at serious risk. There's a danger Zika could spread like wildfire in the aftermath. If residents stay, they are putting themselves in extreme peril.

Fox News' Shepard Smith just made that abundantly clear on air. Let's go to the videotape:

Shep is a Florida Man himself—or at least set up shop there for 11 years. Maybe it's a little personal for him. But he really went in here:

"This moves 20 miles to the west, you and everyone you know are dead. All of you...and your kids die, too."

Earlier in the day, he also posed this question to a Florida Woman refusing to evacuate:

At this point, if you’re south of Palm Beach you are probably not going to see much damage. If you are around Jupiter and Vero Beach, minimal damage. From there north it will trend to more significant wind damage and the storm surge will be much more of a concern.

The eye of the hurricane is about 40 miles east of Fort Pierce heading northwest towards Melbourne, Cocoa Beach and the space coast. The exact location of landfall is not all that significant, strong hurricane force winds will hit any areas around the eyewall reaching land and as they say at the NHC, don’t concentrate on the line on the map, the worst conditions are sometimes to the east of that line which in this case means to the north of the approaching eye as it crawls up the coast.

If you’re around Melbourne to Daytona Beach, expect a really severe hit starting late tonight in the south of that zone and peaking mid-morning towards Daytona Beach.

The long battle with land and the coast may weaken Matthew a bit by the time it reaches Atlantic Beach (JAX region) and Georgia but not much and storm surge will continue to be a major issue.

If this does turn out to be a killer storm in the U.S., my feeling is that storm surge will be the main problem.

All of the Wind Storm Insurance and Building Designs are useless for flooding... however Politicians WILL figure out a way to make you think that they are doing something and make everything 3-4 times their current cost while denying you use of your own property.

I dread the aftermath of Politics much more than the aftermath of the Storm. One you can recover from the other is a Cancer.
Katrina was a Storm but was/is a Cancer, this one will only be a spread of that Cancer. .

Homosexuals were officially known to be mentally ill before political correctness took over. Shep is a good example. He’s not stable. He’s hysterical.

Is "rurn" Southern? I ask because up in Pennsylvania it's "rooooon", Lol!

We like to put an extra R in words, like "warsh" and "Chicargo". ;)

I’ve always thought “rurn” for “ruin” and the past tense “rurnt” (rhymes with burnt) were more southern Appalachian than southern in general.

I'm in west Tennessee, born here, and I grew up saying them that way. My parents were born here, too.

I heard him say that and thought it was weird. Shep is one on the list that I don’t like. I don’t like him, Jenna Lee, Megan Kelly, and Juan Williams. I think there are one or two more that are obvious libs that I won’t watch but most are on the evening shows and I tend to watch the day shows. Fox has it’s moments but they are way better than any of the others.

I do like the fact that Fox will show the obvious bias of the other networks regarding their manipulating the news and blatantly lying about anything involving Clinton or Trump.

LOL, my grandmother said that and more. When I was little I thought it was so funny. I think those terms were handed down through time because my family immigrated to the Appalachians of North Carolina from Scotland in the 1700's and as they moved out of the mountains they brought their way of speaking with them. You rarely hear it in people that are under 70 anymore. We still have our own way of speaking but a lot of the old way of saying certain words is gone.

My husband is almost 80 and even though he is pretty educated (former electrical engineer) he still comes out with a word now and then and I say "what"?

He said he had to leave the coverage once his show ended yesterday so he could attend a wedding that he just couldn’t miss. What do you want to bet it was two guys?

We’re being hit in my area now, the winds are blowing our banana tree toward the west and the canal has rolling waves. I think we’ll stick it out and batter down. We’re on the west coast, we survived Charlie and Wilma, so this one is another normal hurricane. The earlier FLA built homes and the prefabs are usually the ones who get hurt the most. All we are getting is the outreach of Mathew, some wind and rain.

The eye never went on shore. Great!! The front side winds hit only 74 mph. I have seen that in a dust storm. No deaths or injuries, rain= FIZZLER. The main thing is never abandon your property, IT WILL BE LOOTED!!

I agree with one exception, if you are inside the tidal surge area, you may want to evacuate. Otherwise, prep by using hurricane tie down straps on your roof, tape and plywood over windows and doors, trim off dead branches in trees, small pile of sandbags ready if needed.

Otherwise:
- extra tarps
- rope and twine
- extra water and rations for 5 days
- power generator
- extra fuel
- propane (remember to bring the grill inside during the hurricane)
- clean up the yard
- wash the laundry before the power goes out
- get Clorox wipes and baby wipes for improvised showers
- have a working chainsaw / ax / bow saw
- extra trash bags

Many liberals HATE HATE HATE Fox News, Faux News as they call it. But I think Fox News hires more liberals than the rest of the networks - combined - hire conservatives!

Fox is not a conservative network. That sentence would get shrieks and eye-rolls from liberals. Fox really is the most balanced network.

I agree that it is balanced and the other networks are not. Fox has some good conservatives a some libs. I just turn the channel when the libs come on. :-)
