Russia has ordered the US not to carry out airstrikes on Syrian army positions, warning that sophisticated air defence systems are now up and running. Putin has ordered the deployment of S-300 and S-400 units in order to protect troops on the ground. And Russian army bosses have warned that the weapons' radius may be 'a surprise' to unidentified planes, helicopters and drones in the area, according to Russia Today . Russia says it has deployed the anti-aircraft batteries because members of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria are working “ on the ground ” delivering aid.

Except Syria has been Russia's turf for decades. We have no interest there. We had an opportunity to inject ourselves when this whole thing kicked off, but Obama pursued regime change after so many wonderful successes during the "Arab Spring." Syria's been in chaos ever since.

I thought Putin might declare a no-fly zone. It makes sense. Syria is Russia’s ally.
I truly hope the zone isn’t probed by our piloted planes. I expect there will have to be some kind of show of force and resolve. Plus some pretty outrageous bait and an ambush. I pray that none of our heroic pilots don’t get sacrificed to drum up outrage.

Oh no doubt. And so was Ukraine. Obama didn't expect Putin to push back, but after he saw what happened to Libya, he pushed back in Syria for sure. Crimea and the Baltic have been a 350+ year project for Russia, so to expect any leader in Russia to give it up was just sheer Obama stupidity and neocon fantasy.

Insane we are risking nuclear war over supporting the Al Nusra Al Qaeda jihadis and other Salafist jihadis slaughtering Christians and other religious minorities who are seeking to turn secular Syria into an Islamist state. And the U.S military even directly supported ISIS when U.S. aircraft slaughtered dozen of Syrians soldiers fighting ISIS in Deir ez-Zor. I’m afraid to say it appears that we are now on the side of the devil.
