A 10-year-old special-needs boy was on life support after bullies allegedly lured him to a field, doused him with gasoline, and lit him on fire on Sunday.

Kayden Culp of Kerrville, Texas, has burns on 20 percent of his body from his ears to his belly button, and his organs are failing, according to a YouCaring page set up by the boy

What are kids doing with gasoline??

It sounds as if they were, as a group, burning down a shed, perhaps simply for the amusement value.

I live about 12 blocks from where this happened. The area has 3 section 8 housing complexes, and the rest of it is residential, bordered by warehouse type businesses.

The residents in the houses are majority black and Hispanic. The section 8 apartments are more mixed, and one apartment complex is geared for those with chronic mental health issues.

I was surprised the victim was white as Blanks, and Webster area is houses, mostly minority residents.

Last week someone shot a 7 year old through the head in this same area of town that was traditionally called “the settlement”.

Yes, lots of fun with gasoline and autistic kids who may not understand that kind of fun!

And to think my mother got outraged when she found my brother using a magnifying glass on a sunny day to set ants on fire. What a bitch!

Not my world.

I don’t believe the article in post #5, why do you?

Sounds fishy to me.

They probably do not understand the import of their actions but they will almost inevitable grow up to be the same sort of people that they are as kids that burn other kids. They will not be permanently sequestered “because of their youth” but they will become incarcerated adults or die on the street.

One alleged attacker “had issues being destructive and disruptive,”

Anyone who would take part in something like this has issues far beyond that. Calling the attackers bullies is insane, they are sick individuals far beyond what "bullies" would contemplate. Is there some reason we cannot recognize or admit to the existence of pure evil in some people?

The NY Post should be ashamed for twisting those facts to create that misleading sensational headline.

Don’t bother posting; most of the posters here played with explosives as children and don’t understand what most of the fuss is about.

Good grief.

Methinks you should rather hate the evil that has been allowed to grow in this world.

I do hate the evil that grows in this world; if you read all my posts, you would understand that.

When I was 10 in the late seventies, kids didn’t kill other kids. In the mid 80’s is when kids started killing kids and shooting up schools.

I challenge anyone to find kids committing mass murder shooting up schools or other public places before 1980. I searched and could not find any except for one incident where a killed his principal in California in the 70’s.

I wish someone would do a documentary on this because it is a new phenomena. My theory is, lack of religion and social media causing massive isolation with kids. This combined with powerful psychotropic ADD medications and antidepressants alter their brains! Kids now take these like trail mix.

Yes! The clearest case is Leopold and Loeb - but I believe they were college students! There was a terrible case in England about 25 years ago of children killing and raping another boy.

I never want to say this never happened - after all the play “The Bad Seed” and a Taylor Caldwell novel covered this subject but it seems that it is increasing.

I went to Catholic school for 8 years and had a VERY tough mother and learned very early that physical cruelty to people or animals was forbidden. I also had the gift of empathy, thank God.

It is certainly all the reasons you suggest.

“When life is considered cheap and we don’t respect the dignity of human beings this will happen more and more.”

EXACTLY! In just the duration of one short lifetime (mine), we have gone from children playing baseball and marbles, to “grand theft auto” raping and killing prostitutes. From TV shows like “I dream of Jeannie” and “F Troop” to sick & violent drama’s. From listening to songs which placed women on a pedestal, to songs about bitches and ho’s. From celebrating God and the USA to celebrating every sick perversion imaginable.

Big surprise.

I believe it because the comments in the article I reference come from the local fire chief, not a grieving mother. And that the local DA has charged a kid with arson, not attempted murder.

But, by all means, feel free to supply your own narrative. There's a big enough lynch mob on this thread, one more won't make any difference.

Really? In your childhood when did you ever think it was okay to light another human being on fire?

So that remark was directed at the mother and not Wbill? Okay.

The link to the story tells a quite different tale then the one presented at the link provided in the original post. Besides, the mother wasn't there to see what actually happened.

Now are those kids smart enough to make up a rather believable lie? Most adults are not that good. Perhaps. It does put into question as to what really transpired.

Perhaps I just want to believe that these kids did not do that on purpose. That they intended to start a fire in the old abandoned house, and it went terribly wrong, especially for the special needs child. Thinking that they are three little monsters in the making is a bitter to swallow I guess.

Well I am not prepared to make that leap, especially if it was an accident that went down the way the other link portrays that it did. If they did indeed do it on purpose, then these three children need to be watched very carefully. Especially the ringleader and the one that poured the gas, if that version of the story is true. I assume the one that was accused of throwing the match was the ringleader.

Perhaps I just want to believe that it was an accident. The thought that these evil kinds of children are being produced is just too bitter of a pill to swallow. Now the fact that they were even setting the shack on fire is cause for concern. But attempted murder on another human is quite different. They all certainly need to be evaluated to see if they can determine that, if possible.
