Hurricane Matthew Live Thread II
NOAA/NHC ^ | October 6 2016 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 10/06/2016 4:10:09 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, with iminent and sustained impacts to U.S. mainland. Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency for all of Florida and disaster operations are activated. More than 1.5 million Floridians reside in current evacuation zones. Governor Scott has spoken with utilities across the state to ensure utilities are pre-positioned and there are no unmet needs. Multiple coastal hospitals have been evacuated. Meanwhile, feckless President Barack Hussein Obama is personally monitoring the progress of the storm.

One of the odd things about surveying Cuba damage - huge concrete slabs are the new street pavers - is people aren’t snapping pics because people in Cuba don’t have cell phones. It’s easy to forget that.

Yes...like in Haiti....didn't know much til after it passed....plus not too many will take photos in the heat of a hurricane anyway in those parts..too much flying debrie as their homes etc. aren't built as in the states.

During Sandy we had nitwits like you downcasting the storm and saying the danger was hyped.

I clearly recall one of our resident dumbasses saying they would be as safe sitting on the Atlantic City boardwalk pier fishing as they are sitting at home. Sometimes the ignorance is just breathtaking.

Those pics don’t show anything spectacular. One of those DIY metal carports had the roof ripped off and a tree branch down on a rotten old tree. I was actually noticing the lack of damage to all the mobiles. They didn’t even remove the AC from the one mobile home and it is still there. small campers looked unfazed. If those are the best photo’s they can come up with then not much happened there.

“Looks like about $5 worth of damage.”

I am sure I can donate that much.

I know... is it 5 billion?

Cuba and Haiti were actually devastated by this hurricane. I feel really bad for them because they had so little already.

Checking in from Saint Marys, GA.

So far so good. Central pressure is up from 929mb last night to 947mb now.

Our threat of storm surge is down.
