WaPo’s Capehart Cautions Against ‘Tax Cheats’ Seconds After Saying What Trump Did Was Legal
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/02/2016 12:46:01 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Make up your mind, Jonathan! Appearing on today’s AM Joy, the Washington Post‘s Jonathan Capehart, accused Donald Trump of “cheat[ing] the government” on his taxes . . . despite unequivocally stating precisely 29 seconds earlier that “what he did is legal.”

So is every person and entity that takes legal deductions on his tax return “cheating the government,” Jonathan? Does that make the New York Times a tax cheat, too, in your view? After all, as per Forbes, “for tax year 2014, the New York Times paid no taxes and got an income tax refund of $3.5 million even though they had a pre-tax profit of $29.9 million in 2014.”

If legitimate tax returns are “cheating” the government then what does that make the government?

Jonathon, would you like to comment on the “slush fund” that has been unable to provide an accurate tax return since it was founded?

This is such a classic example of people who know little or nothing about the particular topic matter blathering solely for the reason that they are somehow annointed “experts”.

If Donald Trump has been, as he says “under audit” “continuously” for so many years (something he claims but I have no way of knowing and do not particularly care) then the IRS either has found stuff they do not like and/or is illegal during those years and he has had to make good the salient underpayments and has cheerfully taken back his overpayments all along the way. Had he committed some kind of fraud he would be under indictment.

Like everything else in this Kardashian-brained society, a plain fact is turned into a 3rd grade playground dirtbomb throwing contest for the sake of (I assume) a propagandistic media gaining viewership. Whatever Donald Trump pays or does not pay in taxes affects people and the country only 1 neutrino more than the Ms. Venezuela dustup which affects nobody and nothing.

He strategy is that his lie will blot out the truth he just mentioned a few seconds earlier. He will then refer back to his lie a second time, to firmly embed and establish it as the truth, and if anyone “confronts” him, he will, with righteous indignation, refer to the first truth to prove his honesty. He is thinking that few people will hear or notice the confrontation. That is the way of liars.

I notice Grandpa Warren or Mikie Bloomberg never get scrutinized and harassed for taking every available deduction allowed by law.

BTW, any man who calls himself ‘Jonathan’ can never be a real man. That name has Pajama Boy connotations.

The New York Times almost went bankrupt in 2009.

The total value of its stock dropped below $800 million for several months in that year.

It would not surprise me if the NYT paid no taxes at all in most of the years between 2009 and 2015.
