Donald Trump continues to demonstrate strength in the north. A recent Emerson College poll also put Trump within six points. While he is behind Hillary Clinton, this is a lot closer than anybody would have thought. It is not inconceivable for Trump to win the Garden State.

For context, Obama won NJ by 18%. This would put Trump up 12% relative to the communist bigot currently occupying our White House.

California is so infected — I just don’t see it there. They will suffer there own decadent demise. Go TRUMP!!

New Jersey will not end up in his column, but I’m not surprised its closer than expected. Trump has a bit of a “home field advantage” in northern New Jersey because he’s been all over the media in New York City for decades. A lot of the things that might turn off a moderate voter in other parts of the country ... like a loud-mouthed, blustering personality ... works well in New Jersey. It sure didn’t hurt Chris Christie in two statewide elections. In fact, it was an asset for him.

Yeah, except NJ knows and identifies with Trump as from the region. The swing nationwide surely isn’t that great.

Still, if he’d get his act together preparing for the next debate and staying on message, even NJ would be in play.

“For context, Obama won NJ by 18%.”

Yes. This is stunning. Trump should be nowhere near 6 points down.

there are some states to the West that Obama won and Trump is now leading. That’s got to be good for a swing of six or seven points. I wouldn’t put too much of the Jersey closeness on him being blustery and known. I’m a blustery New Yorker who followed him for decades and cruz was my guy up until the New York comment.

Trump’s doing well in a lot of the states Obama took big over Romney, we just need those last few percentage points.

I would love to be optimistic about NJ, but, their D voting for president doesn’t allow me to do so.

Where did you find the internals?? I don’t see them in that pdf. I’m curious what the men/women breakdown is.

Even in these states that he may not win, having such an improvement over Romney is encouraging for other states.

LOL! These “polls” are all over the place. Everybody’s doing them. A lot of those doing them are clueless.

Assuming the 6 point deficit is correct, that’s not insurmountable by any means IMO.

A Trump advertising ambush could just pull it off. Speaking of advertising, I sure hope they plan on spending a lot more than the 140 million recently announced. Not that a more modest budget couldn’t get it done, but this race is close enough that a big media push could be the difference between winning and losing.

"Trump should be nowhere near 6 points down."

He's not. That's just what they want you to think, because Pollsters lie, just as the rest of the media do! If you see a poll saying Trump is down, in all likelihood that's how much he's up. If you see a poll saying he's up, double it. They want him to lose, and this is how they can best affect the outcome...by lying and getting people to believe it.

Stop believing the polls, and believe your own "lying" eyes...Trump's gonna win, and I think it's going to be a 1980-ish landslide.

But you have to do your part...you have to set your friends, buddies, co-workers, carpool mates, whoever, straight when they repeat what some poll says. Tell them to vote for Trump regardless, even if they think all is lost because that's what CNN says. If the polls sway them from voting for Trump, the the Leftists have won. Again. Sorry...rant off.

Dear Lord pleeeeease let me be right on this.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho! God Bless Texas!

I don’t see Trump carrying NJ unless it’s a national landslide for him. Still, this is scary for Hillary. If she’s forced to spend time and money in states like New Jersey, New Mexico and Minnesota then that’s good news. This has been the most unconventional presidential campaign probably in our lifetime, and it’s safe to say none of us has a real clue what will happen.

I live here, and travel to Cape May & Somers Point frequently. I have only seen TWO Illary signs, and NO bumper stickers at all.

My husband works all over Southern New Jersey and he has not seen any Illary signs or stickers either.

Just Trump.

I’m hopeful...
