Cetins mother helped to identify him from surveillance camera images released by police. The arrest warrant said Cetin allegedly used a Ruger 10-22 that had a 25-round magazine.

So CNN called it an AR15 right away I’m sure.
I put a scope on one that cost 4x what the rifle cost, a Redfield Widefield 3x9...The rig could pick the top off an antifreeze jug at 50 yards.
Mrs. rktman choose the black composite stock with stainless parts.
Uh, chose.
Rule of thumb for the dumb. If it can take a high cap magazine, it’s fully automatic.
Great rifles, I have killed two of them in the past two years though. I had two in the Krinker Plinker aftermarket configuration. Put 35,000 rounds through each of them and now they just want to go to their reward. *taps*
The AR-15 is also 22 caliber (5.56mm), but with a copper-jacketed 55-grain bullet at 3,000 feet per second, the muzzle energy is eight times that of the woodchuck rifle.
The military bullet will completely penetrate 10 gauge (0.10 = 2.5mm) steel even at 600 yards away. So it is far more destructive for military purposes. But a .22 handgun or rifle will kill when a vulnerable area is hit with a soft lead hollow point bullet.
“Israeli IDF uses the Ruger 10/22 in urban warfare for sniping. What they do is 1)aim for the knee or 2)the groin or 3)head ... whichever gives them the best shot.”
It is a great weapon with which to do a limited number of tasks - while I would most certainly rather have one of them than nothing, I can think of many, many other weapons that I’d rather have for self-defense (esp. against a large number of people).
Oh, and if the idjits in the media start to try to label the 10/22 an “assault rifle” - 25 round mags or not - they’re going to be laughed off the stage. Actually, I hope that they do, and that some Dem politicians hop on that broken-down bandwagon (though, of course, that’ll be somewhat inconvenient because...Moslem terrorist).
> I only have a couple of standard 10-cap mags for my old 10/22. Gotta get some 25s....
Whatsa matter with you? Git on in man - before November!!!!
Ruger 10/22 Takedown is a nice tool. Fits in a bag to carry around.
I have said all along that the fairly recent scarcity of .22 rim fire ammo is intentional, and intended to reduce the number of weapons available for defense of the Homeland. A .22 Long Rifle round is light and compact, and out of a RIFLE is sufficiently powerful, is very accurate and easy to shoot, is capable of deep penetration, and will take out humans out to at least 100 yards, or more. Drying up the .22 ammo effectively takes about half of the available effective weapons out of the citizens’ hands.
Thanks. I remember that when I read about them using the Ruger and also where they like to place their shots. The MSMLSD people are already a laughing stock. Only the libtards listen to them.
A 22 will do the job but more skill is required. Placement is crucial.
I have a 10/22 converted via ArchAngel kit with a 25 round magazine. Nice piece.
I think the shortage is because there are many more shooters now. Seems to me the newbies probably do a lot of junk shooting, just blasting for fun. When I was a kid, I would use one or two boxes of 50 in a whole year. Picked each target carefully, and I didn’t have a semi-auto.
.22 traditionally sold cheap and there was little profit margin. No incentive to invest $$ in production capacity when they can do better selling center fire ammo.
My most accurate .22’s:
Ruger 10/22T Target model
1970’s vintage AMT Lightning 10/22 patent infringement clone with 22” tapered match barrel.
Magnum Research 10/22 clone with graphite barrel over a steel tube that weighs 4.5 lbs. WITH a 2-7x Weaver scope that will shoot out the X-ring at 50 yards all day long with CCI Mini-Mags.
Did you notice that ALL of these are based on the 10/22 design? I’ll put them up against any bolt gun any day.
Bill Ruger (may he rest in peace) was a firearms design genius on the same level as John Moses Browning IMHO.
Actually, surprised to see it used in a crime...it’s a plinker.
Last week I finally broke down and purchased the 10/22 Target model with blued barrel, "blond" stock. Still in the box. Waiting on a set of Talley rings and purchase of a Nikon ProStaff Rimfire scope with 150 BDC. Also adding the new EABCO extended mag release ($20). Still waffling on whether the scope should be the 3-9x 40mm with fixed 50 yard parallax or 4-12x 40mm with fixed 75 yard parallax. The other rifle has an AO that works from 10 yards to infinity. I wanted that for actual hunting use since I take the rabbits from a long enough distance to avoid spooking them.
