Majority Of Snap Polls Show Trump Won Debate By A Landslide

Trump and Clinton tangled over the economy, her use of a private mail server and his unwillingness to release his income tax returns on Monday night.

They engaged in a vigorous back-and-forth on the debate stage at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, as polls showed them locked in a tight race.

However, after the debate's end, polls conducted by a number of media websites showed their readers felt the real estate mogul came out on top.

Trump acknowledged the result, tweeting: 'Wow, did great in the debate polls (except for @CNN - which I don't watch). Thank you!'

I think his solid numbers are showing support, not debate opinions. People just want Trump!

Trump did not do well but he got saved by two things:

1) Everything about Clinton is instinctively and intuitively repulsive, so all her body language and creepy grinning wrecked any advantage she may have claimed; and

2) Lester Holt was so over-the-top partisan that it generated a major sympathy blowback in favor of Trump.

Hillary did even worse. But she was bad in different ways.
....................................................
Hillary knows she lost. I don’t care how badly you’re hurting, you don’t leave the playing field sneaking off like a thief in the night unless you’ve lost. Hillary didn’t stay around even for two or three questions. Trump answered questions and was courteous to the press. SHE knows she lost.

It was the smirk and too everyone knows she’s been prepping for weeks and she couldn’t do any better than that? Okay, so maybe Trump didn’t especially win but Hillary lost big.

I thought Trump sounded and did great. It’s time for a normal speaking, common sense person to be president, not some freaking politics professor. I like folks that talk real and earn a real living in the real world, unlike Hillary and the rest of the political class. I get a feeling most of the country does too.

Some of us remember a character called Dennis the Menace. No matter how much trouble he got into, everybody still loved him. Trump has a bit of his charm, especially when he looks all innocent and smiles.

Debate number 1: Don’t be mean or scary.
Debate number 2: They will use the same play book so pivet and zing.
Debate number 3: Foundation= Hillary is bought and paid for. Wall street speeches= Hillary is bought and paid for. 30 years of talk and no substance. Everything she touches turns to crap. Death toll from her middle East policies. Refugee toll from her middle East policies. Nixon resigned for Watergate. Hillary has had Troopergate, filegate, travelgate, etc., etc. The latest one; emailgate, the mishandling of classified documents. Anyone else would have been in jail for the rest of their life. If any country country obtained even one of her classified emails, that is treason. She can be blackmailed by any country even willing to say they have her classified emails.

Hillary didn’t stay around even for two or three questions

She had no choice. She was about to lose the other shoe.

Hillary just pushed the same old tired Democratic lines last night.

Trump pointed out that that’s the same song and dance they have been selling for 30+ years and things are the same or worse.

Even the democratic slaves in the inner city are starting to figure it out.

I agree and this was well summarized. This, more than anything else, was his most effective message last night and he inserted it over and over.

I would even go one further and incorporate the acknowledgement that many in his own party have supported these failed policies. That would increase the appeal and we all know it is true.

I have heard multiple well-versed pundits on the left say this is a “change” election. Trump owns the mantle of change better than any candidate since Reagan and it may well carry him to victory in November. Hillary can’t talk about change without being viewed as critical of Obama by her own base. She offers “more of the same” and “4 more years” and that is not what people want.

Great line. True, too.

Doesn't matter how Trump acted. There is a dynamic in play here and it's two-pronged:

1) People are SICK OF 'ESTABLISHMENT' HILLARY AND HER PUPPET MEDIA. The debate reinforced their hatred.

2) There is ZERO ENTHUSIASM FOR HILLARY and even if most people think she won the debate, THEY ARE NOT VOTING FOR HER IN ON-LINE POLLS BECAUSE THERE IS NO ENTHUSIASM FOR HER.

Trump looked presidential while Hillary reminded me of an angry red pepper.

People are tired of Obama.

By hand-cuffing herself to him, Hillary cut herself off from the possibility of starting afresh.

She can’t do that without repudiating him and his legacy.

MI Not a Trump fan; that's all he had to do in the first debate, though. He did it. No damage means Mrs. Bill Clinton has to talk him down, even more than she has been. Everyone knows the more she talks, the more people dislike her. By the third debate, Trump will be hitting her squarely on policy and she will be on the verge of looking like a stark raving lunatic.

I think the online polls all show far greater depth of support for Trump than for Hillary.

If Yale-educated lawyers couldn't out-argue real estate developers, why would real estate developers ever hire Yale-educated lawyers???

Well not down here in Texas, least wise in my circle and on the radio this morning.

Folks are just shaking their heads in disbelief

You mean in your circle of never Trumpers (not a question). Were you saying something about "ig-nert".

Trump's oodles better than Hillary, but I'm just doing all I can to like the guy, but his demeanor/persona is almost like sandpaper to me. I think to myseff....seff, is this the best we can do in America? Seems I said the same exact thing regarding McCain and Romney. Is this it? The best of the best?

Trump is far from my ideal, but I believe he is the right man for the times. There are a lot of great characters in our history that were not a perfect package.

Debates aren't what they used to be, so I'm not bothered by performance. Last night was nothing but a recitation of talking points, commercials, and rally speeches.

The dearth of good people interested in running for public office is concerning. Look at our Congress. Makes it hard to maintain any optimism.

I was interviewed for the CNN/ORC poll. I had no idea that the sample size was only 521.

The questions were so one dimensional with no wiggle room, you couldn’t say both were equally bad, Hillary lied exactly as I knew she would etc.

Yes/no or one or the other.

The sample size for the CNN/ORC poll FYI was +15 D. I declared myself an independent upon initial screening. Not far from the truth since I have no allegiance to the party of capitulation.

I expected MSM to praise Hillary’s performance. But I am surprised at some of the comments here. Hillary smirked and cackled and looked angry and odd in her red outfit.

I'm kind of shocked they haven't gone after Trump for using half his airtime on adjectival phrases....
