First post-debate Poll - Gravis (Clear win for Trump)
Gravis ^ | 9/27/2016

Posted on 09/27/2016 7:25:01 AM PDT by JerseyRepub

Interestingly, in this poll, she won the debate by 48-43, BUT it did not sway too many people (only 5% said they changed their mind and most actually moved towards Trump)

Who would you vote for is in favor of Trump 48-43!

Eat that CNN...

I was amazed she looked so good! I figured it was superlative makeup, sprayed on, etc., which left her with an unwrinkled brow, face and neck...but, she was on TV this morning on her plane giving a talk and she looked good yet again without the stage makeup...so while she has been out of sight “preparing for the debate” she’s been nipped and tucked to the max, and is taking her pep pills! She’s had a facelift to look good for the home stretch!!!

good points, but please understand this is a 90 min debate and it’s his first. He clearly has areas of improvement and he has shown he’ll adapt.

If you had really high expectations that a Business man who got into electoral politics 13 months ago will outshine (pure debating skills) a corrupt, yet seasoned, politician of 30+ years, I can understand why you might be disappointed it. But also understand that outside the beltway, where the elites of both party lurk, he just needed to come out “presidential”, which I believe he accomplished.

If he went too hard against her, it would have been to his detriment. Like or not, chivalry is still something most decent Americans appreciate and attacking her constantly for 90 mins would not have been good optics.

Definitely not a polished politician, but definitely not the great communicator.

near the end, the debate dissolved into pettiness, and the moderator completely lost control; it was red faced shouter against robotic stoneface, akin to a fight between Worf and Data, Klingon vs android...who would win that scuffle...?

Am I the only one who thought that Hilary Clinton was pumped full of benzodiazaprines so that she would resemble a female Spock...?

I'm uncertain as to how a winner could be judged last night. What I do know is that this election is like no other we have ever had. My mind will not be changed by any debate. Too much is dependent upon the outcome for this nation. Personalities aside, Trump's leadership abilities and the support that he has from Conservative leaders, business people, and military leaders is what count. Hilary can use that Liberal 'smile' every time but it does not change a thing. At this point anyone who has NOT made their mind up - in among the low information voters and certainly is not aware of the mess that our nation is in now. The GOP has let us down for the last 7 1/2 years.

“Then Trump let loose. He spoke truth and how venerable America has become under King Obama and Hillary.”

Uh, not venerable - that would be respected. I’m pretty sure that you meant to say, “vulnerable.”

The rest of your post was spot on - he came through as genuine, concerned for this country and its citizens, while she came through as a very polished political hack...which is exactly what she is.

The Dems and their hangers-on have been making the point that she “won” the debate. Well, maybe she had a few more zingers, maybe she would have won a college debate on points, but she didn’t win. First of all, Lester Holt interrupted Trump on 6 different occasions and interfered in the debate by “fact-checking” him - none of which he did to Clinton. People noticed that, and it did NOT help her. She also slipped - she mentioned testifying in Congress for 11 hours. Well, WHY was she doing that? Because of Benghazi, that’s why - and people noticed that, too.

Winning a debate in a Presidential Election is very different from winning one for the college debate team - you don’t have a bunch of nit-picking pros deciding things, but rather the entirety of the American People. We, as a people, don’t really give a damn if the President is the most glib guy out there (like Obama is, if he’s got his teleprompter working right), they care about what the person DOES. On that score, she came across as glib (and condescending as Hell), whereas he came across as someone who despises what politics as usual has done to our country.

As there was ridiculous over-hype before this event (people expecting far too much from a tepid format), there is far too much over-analysis and spin afterward.

With the exception of the few situations of a grand one-liner or especially humorous episode, these things turn on feel and impression. Both candidates accomplished what was, for them, job one: Hillary looked with it and healthy enough and Trump did not turn anyone off by crossing the line from assertive to caustic. Trump appeared honest, genuine and forthright - which is the root of his biggest strength, not being a politician. There was a bit of the creep factor with Hillary and that bobbing smile - I thought it was almost clownish with that red suit on. A bobble-head. But she was wonkish enough and that fit the character she tries to present. But in the end, that is what will stick as impression - Trump belonged there and was direct and honest. Hillary was a bit creepy and sometimes she seemed to have trouble remembering what she was supposed to say...supposed to say being the critical point, she was a studied wonk, not genuine. (Trump had a moment of forgetfulness as well with the “stamina” thing, but he’s less susceptible to having that harm his overall impression).

Just a note about the “missed opportunities” on Hillary’s plethora of scandals. A lot of talk about that - which is the crucial thing - there’s a lot of talk about it and it isn’t Trump exposing himself by being the one talking about it. The talk is all that’s required to remind people of her ethical issues...it doesn’t matter who is saying it, except in that it lets Trump take a higher road if he isn’t the one dwelling on it. We all should know by now that a Clinton will never be brought down by scandal. Those issues will not win the election for someone running against a Clinton. Never have, never will and we have 25 years of history to show that. They actually in a very contrarian way help the Clintons by being the big target everyone focuses on when they need to focus on things that personally impact the voters...which the scandals never do. Trump needs to keep the focus on the deteriorating quality of life in America...trade, the economy, the debt, infrastructure, crumbling inner cities, mass free immigration, terrorism here, law and order. The Clinton failures and scandals should be nothing more than backdrop, because no voter is impacted in their personal life by those things.

” I was at home on the couch. Trump will win.”

President Trump has, in many ways, already won.

* For the first time, the Dems are experiencing a split. Dissention in the ranks. They have never dealt with that before.
* He has taken command of the anti-police violence and he did so without “taking his time to review”. He stood with police from day one, moment one. The police will not forget this.
* He has taken the black vote from the white-knuckled clutch of the democrat party. He spoke honestly: The American black family is setup to lose. His policy will get people back to work.
* He said there will be a wall. No more illegals. No more dangerous muslims. He said this IN MEXICO standing next to the president and their president agreed.
* His anti-democrat tactic has worked so well that the dems are blaming RUSSIA for it. That means he has the strong enough of a fist that they don’t even believe it’s coming from a businessman - they believe it’s coming from a global superpower.
* He took ownership of everything. Never backing down.

This guy is already our president, and has done more for us than the current shill in the White Hut ever has.

The only and I mean ONLY way a dem win is going to happen is through cheating. And they will cheat. They will pull every cheat out they can. They already started with this fake polling numbers crap.

Look closely: it isn’t 48-43-—it’s 48-43 among those who DID NOT change their minds. But 4% changed their minds: A net of 2% changed their minds TO Trump (3% to Trump, 1% to Cankles). In other words, TOTAL Trump =51%.

Now, this is the “breaking 2:1 for the challenger” thing, and it’s playing out just as we said. If this is the case, Trump can expect to win another 6% nationally, which puts him at 51-52% in some polls and about 4-5% margin in most.

Awesome. Great result. Nowhere to go but improve from there either. as the debate is discussed, his performance will look better in hindsight; and he'll do better in future debates - plus all his campaigning. Plus teevee ads starting up.

I was amazed at how good she looked on the last night of the Dem convention. I don’t recall seeing her the following morning. I do know she was back to looking tired and sickly within the week. We’ll see if this makeover lasts longer than that.

Curious.

Did they express an opinion as to why they though this occurred
or what the importance of the interruuptions may have been?

That one really drove me up a wall, fully understanding the felonious actions of Mrs. Bubba Klintoon. She is an UNIDICTED FELON and no one with the least little bit of knowledge of classified documentation regs/laws will argue that point.

hiLAIRy - I can't remember

We’ll see how long she can keep it up. She did cough on the plane this morning a little. Her wicked witch pills wear off (in effectiveness) in a few days. Then she can’t take them for several days. Many days to go for Trump to run her into the ground.

I hate the Clintons with every inch of my soul but I think the debate was rather lame. Clinton is just a polished turd whose only hope is the women vote at this point. Trump was on defense way too much and had opportunities to throw Clinton into stutter/mutter mode. If someone had to win it was Clinton with the help of that moron Holt and pulling the race, woman and free stuff cards. The net gain of new votes was negligible for either candidate.
