Actually, Cruz and Trump are both firebrands and can form a very strong alliance.

They can and should. The bile and vitriol during the primary season (and which continues to this day) was and is unnecessary, and only benefits the 'Rats. There are genuine malefactors in the Republican Party. Cruz is not one of them.

Trump was not debating us last night, we know where are the soft places are when it comes to Hillary but most of the public does not. Trump did just fine and maybe that’s what he wanted. These debates are multi round and there cannot be a knockout in the first round. He will hit her with more stuff in the next rounds. Besides his own skills and instincts Trump has some very good help with debate preparation. Believe me! It’s huge!

As far as Cruz the bottom line is that he and Trump had a very personal and very public dust up. They were angry at each other and things had become very bad but something interesting happened. Trump negotiated sometging with Cruz, that’s the way this looks and because of that this shows that Trump can deal with anyone.

Hillary shot off most of her ammo, she gave Trump the opportunity to talk about taxes and sexism and racism and other perceived negatives in the first debate. After last night all Trump has to say is “your fact checkers found nothing to talk about and according to the polls after the debate here and here and here I won”.

Trump has outwitted the system and a lot of political types since day one and he continues to do so.

Best election ever!

Rush’s show today will be all about, wait for it, wait for it,.....Cruz! Oh, he’ll mention Illary, Lester Hilt and, maybe Trump. But, it’s going to be how wonderful and magnamus “the king of voterless states” is.

Go away Cruz, you’re trying to save your career that you ruined by not endorsing Trump at the convention. We’re all donating to whoever is running against you, we will never forget...

What's with your usage of the Royal We? Speak for yourself.

I will be supporting both Cruz in the senate and Trump for the Whitehouse.

And you don't do Trump any favors with you comments that don't unite us in the fight for Trump and against Hillary.

Trump needs all the help he can get now and after he is elected.

Yes he does, and yes he will. I opined back in December (or thereabouts), that neither Trump nor Cruz could win the general election without the support of the other's supporters. The results of the actually contested primary elections/caucuses support that opinion.

Now we're in the middle of the general election; Trump needs the support of the (former) Cruz supporters. Without them he will not be elected. Anybody who works to alienate those Cruz supporters is trying to get Hildebeeste elected.

I agree. Cruz knows just how bad this will be for the next generation. He decided to bear in mind his own daughters and get the sulkers to vote Trump.

It is no time to shoot our own wounded. We need all the help we can get. And if Cruz can bring in a few “NeverTrumpers”, I welcome him and them with open arms. They are not the enemy. Hillary Clinton is.

I agree completely. Thank you for saying that.

I tried to watch objectively and separate my partisanship from my observation and judgment. I think Hitlery did pretty well in the debate, possibly even won on technical points (if you can still get points when you are lying like crazy). But the fact that the polls say Trump won tells me that people don’t care about technical points, they can see through her lies, they don’t like her, and they are planning to vote for Trump.

And as many have said, the only poll that counts is the one on November 8. It can’t come soon enough for me. (Trump wins and start flying my flag again!)

Threads like this expose the boorish turncoats that comprise a sizeable percentage of Trump voters (at least on this site). Continued assaults on Constitutional Conservatives make it hard for “sulkers” to join this mob, even if it is the only logical choice left. I don’t think “sulkers” is a proper description, it’s not nearly that simple. Some of these people are just not sure they want to reward bad behavior or to add their knife to the back of Conservatism.

Sulkers means in this context the same behavior we try to teach our young not to be. That is, shaking hands with the team who won the game.
I think saving America is a pretty conservative principle.
Should Trump win then he can be influenced by more orthodox viewpoints.
Right now we all have to settle for KISS-Keep it Simple Stupid

“Should Trump win then he can be influenced by more orthodox viewpoints.”-—— That is the hope we non-pretenders have, but in the meantime there are many here who have already turned their backs on leaders like Levin and Limbaugh and are hell-bent on destroying one of the very few true conservatives we have in office. Mind-numbingly stupid and yet that’s the path being started. Elements like this complicate simple decisions and, at the very least, don’t help the goal of defeating Hillary.

Ted is playing catch-up on his ass kissing now that Trump appears to be winning.

Yup. It's all about Ted's political future. Which I still think is OVER.

Free Trade, globalism, off shoring are dead concepts. If the Republican Party returns to those positions it is dead.

God I hope not. What would have been the point? Globalist Establishment orthodoxy is what is killing the USA.

Tonight, Donald Trump had his strongest debate performance of the election cycle. He drew strong contrasts with Hillary on taxes, regulations, law and order, and the disastrous Iran deal.

God bless Ted Cruz for his support. He shares our prayer that God enable Donald Trump and Mike Pence as our next President and Vice President.
