Just weeks before the Nov. 8 election, a federal appeals court has ruled that Ohio’s method of purging names of inactive voters from voter rolls is unconstitutional. Ohio, a battleground state in the presidential race, removed the names of tens of thousands of registered voters under what it calls its “supplemental process." Under this controversial method, voters were taken off the registration rolls after six years of not voting, regardless of whether they remained eligible to vote. ......

Thanks for finding that link.
Husted said the ruling was going to appeals, but don’t know if that will delay adding names to the rolls.

People can register online right up until the day before early voting, Oct 12.

If they want to check their registration status it is online.

Screw these judges. You have a governor in California who let’s illegals vote. SO, just SCREW THEM. If the governor and officials there had any gonads, they would IGNORE these sobs!

I don’t know the rules in Ohio, but many states allow voters to cast provisional ballots. If a legitimate voter is purged by this, wouldn’t they still be able to vote? I’m talking about a person who thinks they are registered, shows up at the polls, and is told they aren’t on the list.

Yes, that's correct. A voter who was formerly registered but purged would still be able to cast a provisional ballot. However, that ballot will not be counted unless they can provide proper identification and proof of residency if the residency is questionable. If those requirements are met, and if a GOP and Democrat member of the county Board of Elections for the county in which the ballot was cast agree that the ballot is valid, then and only then will the ballot be counted. Ohio's ID requirements are stringent without being onerous, so electors attempted to cast a ballot in good faith will have no problem meeting them.

I am a GOP member of a county Board of Elections in Ohio. As mentioned upthread, the applications for receipt of absentee ballots were mailed a week ago, and the majority of counties have no record of which registrations were purged from the rolls, so there will be no "do over".

I have a theory. In Michigan, when you vote, they cross your name off in a list to note that you’ve voted. The result is a list of names that have not been crossed off. This can be used to track whom doesn’t vote, providing a avenue for fraud by voting for people that “might likely” won’t vote.

I’m not sure if this is the case elsewhere.

My memory says that this not a new process the court has struck down but a decades old one. Voting was one way to recertify. Not voting for 2 or 3 consecutive elections required recertification. IOW, prove you still reside in that precinct. Made perfect sense to me and it wasn’t difficult or illogical. After all, driver’s licenses must be renewed, and fishing, hunting, business, etc. It makes sense to me.

And who can argue with purging dead people from the rolls? That’s a no-brainer.
Ohio should appeal to the full court and then to scotus. It’s rules are logical. It’s even in kasich’s interest to do so.

“My point was I wish they would have destroyed all records of the voter registrations they removed, so no lib Judge could order them restored.”
