Comments? I think this is a mistake and has been my biggest worry for Trump - not really properly preparing for these debates. If Trump bombs Monday I'm not sure there'll be enough time for him to rebound.

Obama tanked in his first debate with Romney. It didn’t change the election outcome.

B.S. is what I call this article...it’s the AP and they are all in the tank for ROTTEN...

Believe it if you want, but I don’t...this man wants to win, he knows what he has to do, and how about Laura Ingram who has been ‘Hillary’ practicing with him? Oh, AP forgot about that did they...like they have forgotten to tell the truth for years!!!

Did you read how Romney practiced for months...16 mock debates. How did that work out for him ? He quit & hid like a sissy from Candy Crowley. Trump will be Trump & that will be enough.

There’s 3 debates scheduled. If Trump has a bad night Monday its not the end of the world. IMO, Trump is not going to have a bad night.

Vote Trump 2016

Did you hear Trump’s speech in Roanoke tonight?

That was part of his debate prep.

...has run through full-length mock debates against a stand-in for Trump during her preparation sessions

Yeah, that's the ticket, a stand in for Trump.

They are planning that what they have seen is what is going to show up at the debate.

Mr. Trump has been considering this for a while.

Wonder how long he thought about such a debate, and how to set up for it?

You do realize that Trump dispatched 16 other Republican primary contenders by not following “the rules,” right?

So this Republican “strategist” can pound sand

I’m sure he’s done approprite and sufficient preparation.
These articles are always put out by the campaigns to “lower expectations”.

I hope he’s pracised how to ‘duck and cover’ if she starts projectile vomiting!

WHy should he prepare in any conventional way? Look as how well that worked out for Romney and McCain.

Trump has this covered, believe me.

When you know your subject matter, preparing too much hurts. I do recall Conway saying that he went through a 5 hour no break practice debate to make sure he can stay on track. Trump believes what he says, unlike Hillary who is just saying it to get votes. When you lie or have to make stuff up, it is hard to keep it straight. That is why Hillary has to spend so much time preparing. Then again, is she really preparing or resting? No one knows for sure.

It depends.

If Trump is practicing openings, closings, questions, and follow ups, that is likely to be enough. He doesn’t need a full 90 minute practice, not for what he has to prove to his supporters and to the undecideds. Plus, he gets to play the “skipped practicing a full debate” game to mess with the minds of those few liberal journalists who have minds.

Or maybe, Trump is taking the bible seriously when Christ promises to furnish an answer when needed, and advises don’t fret over it in advance.

All manner of prayers for Donald Trump would be very much in order here, to support this.

I suspect he will not do terribly badly.

Trump seems like a very capable at verbal sparring and can come up with a lot of replies on the fly. I also think it is possible to over prepare for something like this and try every permutation in advance and then be lost in them when the real event happens. His instincts have served him well so far.

Debates are remembered for one or two memorable lines. Ford saying that Eastern Europe was not dominated by the Russians, Reagan saying he would not hold Mondale’s youth and inexperience against him etcetc. Somehow if Trump can get the American people to understand that Hillary is inherently dishonest, shamelessly corrupt, impaired and sloppy he will win. For instance if the question of personal wealth comes up Trump might ask “Just wonder how my opponent who claimed to be “dead broke” in 2001 came to be worth over $31 million dollars after spending 10 years in public service. Just how did she do that.?”

So, that’s what Hillary’s been up to, not just hiding like everyone thought, or recuperating from her “pneumonia.”

She’ll undoubtedly try to get under his skin, but he needs to shrug that off, or turn any attack on him back on her, and then counterpunch twice as hard.

Clinton has a history of really getting angry when challenged, so Trump has to challenge her on everything, from her do-nothing senate record to the disasters she caused in the Middle East, and North Africa, to her lying, her emails. Essentially, he has to keep her on the defensive, and attempt to provoke her into an angry outburst.
