An Army National Guard brigadier general assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a major general in charge of a Kansas-based infantry division have been recently relieved of their duties, according to a report in USA Today and an Army statement released Friday.
Brig. Gen. Michael Bobeck is accused of having an extramarital affair a violation of military law if proven true and is being investigated, according to the USA Today report. Bobeck has been reassigned from his post on the Joint Chiefs pending the results of the investigation.
The report also indicated that Bobeck had a cozy relation with an Alexandria, Va-based consulting firm that had done some work with the Pentagon. It is unclear if that had anything to do with the removal from his post, but at one point, according to the report, Bobeck lived with one of the firms executives.
Bobeck, a decorated officer, enlisted in the Army infantry in 1979 before going on to serve in a variety of billets in both the active duty Army and the National Guard [ ] Throughout his career, he spent time in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, and as a company commander in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

Maj. Gen. Wayne Grigsby, commander of the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley Kansas since August 2015, has been suspended from duties as commander, according to the Army statement. The removal of a division commander is rare and military officials would not say why he was relieved.
He is currently the subject of an official investigation and we cannot comment further at this time, the statement said. Grigsbys biography on the Fort Riley website indicates that he is still in charge of the unit.

Thanks for the info about Lt Gen Boykin.
But affairs are just fine for commanders in chief.
Yes, that, too. Thanks for reminding us of that sordid mess.
The 1ID CG is a big deal. When’s the last time a DIV CDR was fired? I’ve seen Brigade Commanders get away with absolute murder and escape generally unscathed (the recent 1-1AD BCT commander notwithstanding). It must be really bad for this to happen.
Doesnt matter. He is married. Affairs are crimimal offenses regardless of affair partner.
Homosexual relationship good, extra marital affair deadly your fired!
There is a trend of this Administration not having the guts to relieve a commander for the real reason, but instead relieving them of supposed adultery, while the Commander-in-Chief and his Cabinet promote every form of sexual deviancy imaginable.
Amazing that they are held by higher standards than their CINC....
One would think Military secrets are a bigger reason that Brass at this level are re-leaved of duty for this type behavior as Enemy Agents can target them into this type behavior.
Brass of this level have the largest houses in ON BASE HOUSING provided FREE so there was no need for off base housing provided by a contractor unless one wanted a Mansion.
That is how it works on our Navy base.
You can always tell when the career ending smears come from the White Hut, they involve sex.
