Donald Trump Unveils New, More Diverse, Supreme Court Short List

Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump expanded his list of potential Supreme Court nominees Friday.

The new list consists of 10 more possible nominees, including a U.S. senator who has refused to endorse Trump.

Trump's additional list, coming just days before the first debate, suggests he wants to add diversity to his earlier all-white list of eight men and three women. The second list, like the first, consists of bedrock conservatives, many with records hostile to abortion rights, same-sex marriage, and federal regulations.

While the new list adds the name of just one more woman, it is more racially and ethnically diverse — one African-American state court judge, a Venezuelan-born federal judge, and another federal judge of South Asian descent.

Sounds perfect so far!

The Founding Fathers were in a hurry to go home in September 1787, or else they would have included language about "abortion rights" and same-sex marriage in the Constitution.

Southeast Asian American as in SOUTH KOREAN AMERICAN on the SCOTUS could be great!

South Korean Americans are known for their observance of conservatism, their respect for propriety (turning down bribes), and their unwillingness to back down to social pressure groups. Let’s hope it’s a good one!

Nan Aron, of the liberal Alliance for Justice, said that the new list, like the first one, consists of “ultraconservatives who espouse a backward view of the law. Adding some racial diversity, she said, “doesn’t change the fact that these individuals’ track records suggest they would endanger the cherished rights and freedoms of Americans.”

Unintentional endorsement ~ Go, Trump, GO!

Federico Moreno Is a great pick from down here in Florida, although he is a bit old at around 60. He’s a solid conservative and a great all around guy. Even better, he’s a UM grad, not some elite from Yale or Harvard. Overall. You’ve got to love Trump’s picks. These moron never trumpers need to get with the program and get on board. The Supreme Court is too high a stake to risk.

The potential nominee is South Asian, as in Indian. Korean would be East Asian. And yes, I agree that we could do a lot worse than have an American of Korean heritage on the Supreme Court.

I didn't see Janice Rogers Brown on the list. I was impressed with her when she was appointed to -- I believe -- the DC Circuit, or Court of Appeals.

My understanding is that she has perhaps a more libertarian view of the law but her background and story are interesting, as are a couple of speeches she has given. Has anyone been following her activity? Perhaps she isn't quite right for the Supreme Court but I admit I don't follow the activity of judges that closely.

I know. Jesus was in too big a rush to include them in the Bible, too.
