Huma Abedin's role in American politics first rose to prominence when she served as a top adviser to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (again, their friendship stretches back considerably). Since then, the Muslim Brotherhood has vastly strengthened its position within the US. Within that time period, the US government has reversed a standing policy against formal contact with the Brotherhood, went on channeling funds into Egypt despite the Brotherhood's victory in post-Mubarak elections there, and hosted official Brotherhood delegations in the United States. Abedin's level of involvement in these actions can be debated, but whether she is personally responsible or not, what is beyond question is that the Democratic party should not be coddling a known terrorist organization like this.

Thank you for contacting me regarding your opposition to U.S. foreign aid. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.
The Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), which funds the Millennium Challenge Corporation, provides assistance through a competitive selection process to developing nations that are pursuing political and economic reforms in three areas: ruling justly, investing in people and fostering economic freedom. The concept of the MCA is based on the premise that economic development succeeds best where it is linked to free market economic and democratic principles and policies, and where governments are committed to implementing reform measures in order to achieve such goals.
U.S. foreign aid problems have been the subject of considerable controversy in the wake of increasing domestic pressures on the budget. Due to the nations current budget situation, it has become increasingly difficult to justify lavishing money on foreign countries.
I know of only a few limited circumstances in which foreign aid can be justified for our national security. In these restricted circumstances, I do support some foreign aid. However, foreign aid often has harmful, unintended consequences. Much of the economic aid we provide to other countries has the same harmful effects that mismanaged domestic aid programs have in this country. Rather than providing these countries with an incentive to become more economically efficient, the new resources allow them to delay making needed economic reforms.
There are a number of other reasons to dramatically reduce our foreign aid. Most of our aid programs should be eliminated. I will vote to cut the funding of wasteful foreign aid giveaways, and will only support it in limited circumstances in which it can be justified as necessary for our national security.
Once again, thank you for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed on other matters of interest to you.
Where has the family security matters people been the last 8 years. His connections have been known the past years. At least.
The tin foil hat conspiracy kooks were all right. We chose not to listen.
Or consider the possibility that he was paid to do the sexting. Nothing like a good sex scandal to cause a diversion away from all the other scandals.
Maybe Weiner is just a garden variety perv and it’s causing problems for the Dems. Or maybe he’s being paid to act like a perv. Who knows? There is not much that would surprise me.
