Mike Ditka has 'no respect' for Kaepernick: 'Don't like our flag ... get the hell out'
CBS Sportlsine ^ | 9/23.2016 | Will Brinson

Former Bears coach Mike Ditka is a very conservative human being. There is no debating this. So it wouldn't be surprising to see him come down on the opposite side of Colin Kaepernick when it comes to the 49ers quarterback's protest against the national anthem and the American flag.

But Ditka's got a pretty aggressive message for Kap, one he delivered while interviewing with CBS Sports Radio affiliate 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, saying he can "get the hell out" of America if he doesn't "like our flag."

"I think it's a problem...anybody who disrespects this country and the flag," Ditka said. "If they don't like the country they don't like our flag ... get the hell out."

Ditka also said he has "no respect" for Kaepernick and didn't care if Kap had any respect for him. "I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick -- he probably has no respect for me, that's his choice," Ditka said.

"My choice is, I like this country, I respect our flag, and I don't see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on."

Suffice to say, Ditka would probably fall in the category of people who look at Kap as the "most disliked" person in the NFL.

Took my grandson to Chicago about ten years ago. Made sure we went to Ditka’s restaurant. Food was excellent and really enjoyed seeing all the pics and history. Impressive coach that this generation knows nothing about.

Good thing Mike doesn’t work for ESPN or they’d fire him.

He used to work for ESPN and those running it did fire him for supporting Trump:

If Ditka had run for Illinois senate way back when, Bath House would likely be a coffee fetcher or an attendant at the Man Country in Chicago.

I think about that every single time I see or hear his name. Every. Single. Time.

His restaurant serves the best Sunday Brunch, I have ever had anywhere. Real manly spread. Make sure you are hungry when you go, if it is still open.

Trump is -6 in Illinois. He needs to do a BIG rally in Chi-town with Ditka - he’ll win the state.

I'm forwarding this thread via email to all Illinois (my home state) and Florida (my now state) freepers on my list.

Love that Mike! A great conservative!

I wish he would have run for the Illinois state senate back in the day as we were all hoping he would.

He would have beaten the pants off of relatively unknown Chicago community organizer and political street pimp, Barak Ocommie, and maybe things would be.......

It was many years ago when I took my grandson and two other 15 year olds. None of them had ever been to Chicago. The two friends were from a very small town in Kansas had never flown, ridden on a train, in a cab, on a trolley or seen so many high rises in one place.

Was Thanksgiving weekend, kettle bell ringers were out, the city was decorated and Christmas music was playing in the stores. Grandson spent one afternoon and a lot of Granny’s money in North Face. We went to all the museums, ate dinner at a “real” Italian restaurant and went to the top of the John Hancock Tower.

Remember that there were people actually smoking in the restaurant and the boys went out shopping by themselves one night. The Wharf had pretty much closed down for the winter but did take them to what little was open.

Doubt if we ever go back but do have wonderful memories of the area.

Christmas is a magic time. Made lots of memories for everyone and the kiddos - now mostly grown young men at 25 - still talk about it.

Finally someone with enough guts and credibility in the sports world to put Kaepernick in his place.

Bobby Knight is already on record too........

da coach!

Loved him when he coached my Bears, all the way to the Super Bowl win. Enjoyed the heck out of him when I saw him speak a few years back.

No nonsense, no bullcrap, just straight up.
