There has to be a better way to manage pain.

I remember when I was young and unable to get pain pills.

I started drinking heavily so I could go to sleep at night.

I don’t do this anymore because I’m not having pain of that magnitude and if I do, I can take half a pill and a muscle relaxer and get some relief which is probably better than a gallon or two of Jack every week.

Personally, I’m afraid of marijuana but if it works I have nothing against it or the people who use it.

There is. But of course marijuana is still schedule 1, difficult to even get permission to do actual scientific experimentation with. All the heroin variants are schedule 2. We decided as a society marijuana is scarier than heroin, which is really weird if you think about it. But that’s where we are. Slowly but surely the tide is changing as more and more states legalize for medical and even recreational, but there’s still that culture change. But a lot of doctors are still old school, they won’t write those medical marijuana scrips, and even the ones that aren’t old school know there’s potential legal trouble in that direction.

We’re really into one size fits all thinking in this country. Which is usually a problem. Sure some junkies really are just dope fiends who went down the path. But a constantly growing number were pushed down that path by their doctors. Don’t know what we can do about the first group, but we can demand better thinking and actions from our doctors.
