I meant no criticism, especially for some aged lady. I just don’t see what anyone could say that would make me decide to vote the other way at this point. I guess it’s more plausible that someone could decide to vote or not vote at all after watching a debate, but that’s still stretching it, at least for me. As far as Trump’s crude public remarks, yeah here’s hoping he stifles that stuff.

The ten % of voters that are the swing voters supposedly decide all national elections. Most of the time it seems these folks can’t give a rational reason why they vote one way and then another. If that’s true, then the dumbest 10% of voters that somehow manage to vote actually decide all elections no matter the result. It could be a good result or bad from our point of view, but the ones that are swayable for whatever reason decided it.

Perhaps we write it off to all people being different. I too have know from the beginning “anybody but hitler’s spawn”

Some of Trump’s attacks on other candidates during the Republican debates were not taken well by my friend. She didn’t see them as having substance related to issues. She doesn’t have modern technology, newspaper, radio and TV are her news. She is very discerning for someone who gets her news from MSM tho. She reads her newspaper cover to cover each day but its typical liberal dribble. It doesn’t suit her but for someone at her age level it’s what you do. She is an opinionated delight! Because her party has actually left her (and she knows it), I think she just refuses to express party affiliation again. I know who she’s voted for in every election since 1945 and can predict (I think) her vote. But she is not going to tell anyone until after she’s seen the debates. That said, she could surprise me.

True, he has to avoid saying crude or inflammatory things, but that won’t stop the press from lying about what he said.

Here are a few examples of statements attributed to Trump where it was actually someone else who said it, and he was responding:

1) Trump holds up his hands during a debate and says “I don’t think they are small do you? And believe me there aren’t any problems anywhere else”. This was in response to Rubio minutes before saying Trump had small hands and “you know what they say about men with small hands” Rubio got a big laugh from the audience at Trump’s expense, yet Trump is the one accused of a distasteful remark during a debate.

2) During a rally Trump refers to a story earlier in the week where a journalist (I can’t find the story now - it’s been scrubbed I think) said Trump’s supporters were so under Trump’s spell that he could probably shoot someone on fifth avenue and not lose a single vote. It was very unflattering about Trump supporters, but Trump tries to put a positive spin and talk about how loyal his supporters are. He says “They say I have the most loyal supporters. Did you see that? Where they said my supporters are so loyal I could stand on Fifth Avenue and shoot....” But although he is clearly quoting someone else saying that about his supporters, I can’t find a single video or article about this that isn’t clipped to make it seem like he was making the statement rather than quoting someone else.

3) he got asked if he would consider appointing his sister to the Supreme Court - he said he’s sure she would make a fine justice but no, that would not be appropriate. They clip the last part off and repeat a hundred times that “Trump would appoint his own sister to the Supreme Court”

4) Trump says the Saudies can go ____ themselves but doesn’t say the F word - so the networks cleverly add a bleep so you can no longer hear that he didn’t say it. Yes I know, there are clips from 2012 where he actually says it, so he’s not pure. The point remains that even if he’s as good as gold, they’ll find a way to frame him.

I think the real key to victory for Trump isn’t to be careful, censor himself and be politically correct. The key is how he responds when they throw something at him. Whether it’s being crude, inciting violence, being ignorant, throwing granny off the cliff, dog abuse, whatever.... Trump should hit back harder, turn it to his advantage, never apologize and don’t slink away like a Romney or a McCaine.
