I'm a male in my 50s. I have yet to hear a "catcall" in real life. I've seen it plenty of times in the movies and on TV shows. But never in real life. And I work in NYC and walk by construction sites just about every day.

Just another hateful stereotype us males are subject to.

Back in the sixties, I loved calling our branch plant in Atlanta from the home office in Dallas. You had to go through the Atlanta operators to complete the calls, and their southern accents were sweet as honey.

“So I just decided to act like an a-hole. Works great!”

It does, doesn’t it? Ever since I got tired of being an @sshole and became a nice guy, my love life has suffered. My ability to pick crazy girlfriends, however, has not.

I expect it has to do with the purpose, or perceived purpose, for which you are “approaching.” I like to think that everyone, male or female, perceives me simply as “customer” or “teacher” or “library patron” or “person with annoying child,” etc.: as a person in a role where only common humanity, not sex, is relevant.

In return, I think of others as “student” or “clerk” or “old person who could use some help reaching the yogurt” or “person with annoying child that isn’t mine, thank God.”

If I thought anyone was thinking “possible sex partner,” I’d be pretty creeped out.

So would you agree with the lyrics from the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein song:

“When I hear the compliment’ry whistle
That greets my bikini by the sea,
I turn and I glower and I bristle,
But I happy to know the whistle’s meant for me!”

I’m surprised the feminazis haven’t criminalized this song yet:

Love it. I enjoyed being a girl.(With thanks to Richard Rodgers).

I personally think that one of the reasons that feminists are so willing to defend Muslims is that male Muslims are unambiguously sexist, and these women subconsciously find them more sexually attractive than the Western men they have successfully neutered.

Deep down, women are wired to want somebody who they feel confident will protect them, who makes them feel secure.

They test the men around them, to see which ones are manly (the Alpha males). A man she can successfully push around is not manly (a beta male) and she will have no sexual interest in him (although she marry a high-earning one for financial reasons, while having affairs with more manly men on the side). A man SHE can push around is unlikely to be the protector she desires.

You see it in the stories which mothers have told their kids for generations. The girl always goes for Prince Charming, the manly guy who has wealth and is handy with a sword. How often do you have a story about a girl getting the farmer boy neighbor?

That's just your honesty! It's perfectly ok for them to be dishonest. Just 'playing the game', don't you see?

Women want men to be honest, so that a woman will not be fooled into committing to an inferior man. Women want to retain the right to be able to deceive and manipulate men, to get what they want. In the feminist perspective "good" is whatever benefits the woman.

Maybe if she was modest and humble, and sweet-tempered and helpful, and clever and interesting, she could have met, in the course of her real life, a nice man who got to know her, loved her, and married her. Plenty of disabled men and women fall in love and get married - often, though not always, to spouses who do not have disabilities.

You are quite right. If a woman is a bitch, men may spend a night with her, but nothing long-term. Meanwhile, a woman who perks up a guy's spirit and is fun to be with will get much male attention, even if she's very average-looking (or disabled).

Howie Long ? Nice to meet you, Burt Reynolds here. The checker at Wal-Mart called me Burt and said I “must hear that all the time”.

I laughed and told her, no it was the first time.
When I got home, I told the wife .

Her question to me, “Was she wearing glasses ?”
Me: “ No “
Her: “ Well, that explains it .”

This concept is gender-neutral. If you are a decent person, a fun person, a kind person, a person with a positive attitude regardless of circumstances, then you will have much better relationships (romantic and otherwise), as well as (most important, imo) getting through life much better.

I realize this author has to produce this kind of copy because it's her career, but I still want to tell her, "Go volunteer in an Alzheimer's home and grow some real self-worth that isn't dependent on men's lusting after your body."

“Genuine Southern Belles really are something, though.”

I think you’re right. Since moving to TN I’ve noticed that the “southern belle” type are the ladies people gravitate to — both men and women. And it seems that “they do everything right”. It’s weird — like genetic or something. The ones I know are extremely feminine when it’s appropriate, and they have shotguns always by their doors to pick off a squirrel or two that are messing with their gardens.

When I was in my 30’s I had a friend who owned a bar in a bad area. Any time I went into his place he knew I was going to pull a Mad Max Thunderdome disarm at the bar. Everybody got a pat down at the door except me. He’d come over and shake my hand and I’d start laying weapons on the bar.

The last time I saw him I put 7 pistols 4 knives and an Asp tactical baton on the bar.

I was stout and bald but the women all wanted to talk to me.

I’m fatter balder and 20 years older and retired in TN nowadays. I’m a little more discreet in my later years and don’t go to bars anymore.

LOL! That could describe me! (The bars I went to were in Alaska in the ‘70s and ‘80s — also heavy on the guns.)
