Years ago I was driving and got pulled over by an officer.
No driving infraction, yet he could tell that my registration had not been renewed and was a week overdue.

It was an innocent oversight on my part...yet I was 100% absolutely guilty.
He could have impounded my vehicle on the spot and left me walking.

Instead, the (male) officer said:
"...I need to address police business *THIS* way.
I suggest you drive *THAT* way to go renew registration on this vehicle via computer. Am I being clear?..."

That is good community policing. The officer ensured I wasn't a criminal on-the-lam and easily determined I was an otherwise law-abiding person who missed a simple notice in the mail.
A stereotypical female officer would have flatbedded my car away and left me to walk the seven miles home. Then pay $350.00 to get my vehicle back.
