Is it time for Roger Goodell and the NFL to hit the panic button?
Last week’s Sunday Night Football matchup drew in its lowest ratings in seven years (Monday Night Football didn’t fare any better) and last night’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings fell even further. According to Deadline, the primetime portion of last night’s game scored a 13.7/22 in Nielsen’s metered market ratings as the Vikings went on to beat the Packers 17-14. Not only is that down 18% from last year’s ratings, it’s also a 9% dip compared to the SNF opener just last week.
So what’s causing the sharp drop in interest? Clearly, many people have gotten turned off by the political protests during the national anthem, but The Guardian’s DJ Gallo argues that the play hasn’t been compelling enough to keep viewers watching:
The NFL has been a great escape for its fans from the larger problems of the world. The less of an escape the NFL provides, the more its fans will eventually find their own escape. Is that what we’re seeing now? It’s still too early to tell, but with the other issues hanging over the league, they may not want to wait for long to find out.

C’mon. You and I both know that Landry needed to go after Jones bought the franchise. The guy was coach for 29 years and the team was mired in mediocrity in the 1980s. How much longer should he have coached?

The combination of ESPN and the NFL is too much for me.
Under no circumstances will I watch a football game on that network, or any other presentation. ESPN has lost its sense of place and I will not indulge it.

It could be the onset of the Sports Glut. College ball will see a new record 41 bowl games this holiday season. Sports is just another entertainment category and even though there are 500 channels there are still only 24 hours in the viewer’s day.
The NFL is about refs and replays and yellow hankies and pink gloves and shoes and not getting concussions. Maybe that’s not enough any more.
It seems fans have the right to protest too. Ergo, the low raings.
I hope so. If they can’t honor the flag representing our country that gives them the right to pursue these careers, they deserve to be wiped off the football map.
People should send these A-holes tampons. Maybe their feelings of inadequacy will find a receptacle. Or, they could just put the tampons to proper use.

This week,I watched the Gay Niners with their BLM Muslim QB on the sidelines and cheered for the other team. For about 5 minutes and turned to another non sporting channel.
Had been a 9er fan since the 1970’s. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of their past coaches and players. Guys with class and none of this gay/blm/liberal crap in our faces.
