Don’t move to Canada if Trump wins election
UMass Daily Collegian ^ | 9/19/16 | Margossian

... Trump winning the election in November is not reason to leave; on the contrary, it is the very reason we need to stay. To get to where he is today, the Republican nominee for president of the United States of America, Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers living in racially isolated areas, who feel that their voices are not being heard. To do so, he played on a fear that immigrants take American jobs, a fear that terrorism will spill into American borders and the general fear that America is no longer what it used to be. As a result, he amplified xenophobic, Islamaphobic, homophobic and other “othering” sentiments.

Consequently, Trump winning the election is not the main issue. Whether or not he wins the presidential election, his followers will remain, and so will the toxic sentiments that he brought to the surface. As these tensions rise, it becomes ever more important to combat injustice and fight for the rights of underrepresented groups.

That being said, the comments Trump has made throughout his campaign do pose potentially dangerous futures for minorities that Trump is targeting. Based on Trump’s proposed policies regarding Muslims and immigrants, America very well may become a dangerous place to live for those groups of people.

According to a poll by Vox/Morning Consult, 53 percent of Hispanic people, 38 percent of African Americans and 43 percent of “other nonwhite” people who participated in the poll answered that they were “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to “consider moving to another country, such as Canada...”

“Always consider the source.” My Dad's favorite reply to trash written by the commies. UMASS is a mass of liberal snot.

This person, who attempts to be a serious writer, trashes the base of the Dems, not the Republicans, uneducated, blue collar workers (read unions).
The poll figures are also a reason to not trust “VOX.”

Sorry, but him/her is not an inclusive enough pro-noun. You are hearby sentenced to 40 hours at the community hugging tree.

“.....general fear that America is no longer what it used to be.....”

We used to be a nation of laws that were enforced.

We used to act with common sense not PC - BS

We used to be a country where the corner drug store, hardware store, burger stand sponsored the local little league team and yearbook.

We used to have a profound faith in God not Progressivism.

“Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers...”

The author doesn’t understand the difference between indoctrination and education.

By the way... where’s the barf alert!

I wonder what Canada’s thoughts are on this...

In seriousness, I looked into emigrating to Canada after the 2012 disaster. It is NOT as easy as a people think. They have VERY strict requirements to gain citizenship. Also, some misdemeanor offenses here in US, like DWI, are considered FELONIES in Canada, and you will be turned away once they view your records.

I think the greatest illustration of this absurd attitude toward the “less educated” was a woman I saw on TV many years ago. She was a nurse in California and was being paid something like thirty five dollars an hour way back then, probably equal to more like a hundred an hour now. She was asked if she ever thought that possibly she was overpaid. She replied absolutely not and went on to mention that when she took her car in to be repaired there was a sign on the wall saying that the labor charge was seventy five dollars an hour. She then said that that guy makes “twice what I make” and “he only works on your car, I take care of your body”, as if a mere auto mechanic was totally inferior to her. It immediately struck me that she was an idiot who ignored two very important things. One, the charge at the garage was NOT what the mechanic was paid, he would be lucky to get twenty of the seventy five, the rest went to cover overhead and payroll taxes etc. Secondly she is a fool to think that the mechanic’s job is less important than hers simply becuase he works on cars rather than people. That mechanic could cause the death of many people if he does his job in a sloppy fashion. If anything I would put the mechanic above the nurse in terms of responsibilities.

And he considers that a “bad thing?”We should all chip in and provide tickets in exchange for each of them renouncing their US citizenship.

“Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers...”

I have Bachelor's, Master's and P.H.D degrees from nationally accredited universities.,

Although I was blue-collar (United Steel Workers) at one time, to partially pay my way through college, I spent my career in professional technical and management positions.

So f*ck off U mass!

I’m obviously missing something here.

The Left started the meme that Trump is bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist ... yada, yada, yada ... but I don’t see it. I keep hearing it, but I don’t see it.

Trump has a track record of minority hiring in his business, blacks and latinos are now hearing his message and lending their support, and women play a major role in his dealings. Shutting down immigration for a while makes perfect sense, both economically and for national security reasons. So where is all the hatred and bitterness?

Trump is cut from different cloth, no question about it. But is he evil and dangerous and hateful? Sorry, I don’t see it. I’m sure the snowflakes do, but I don’t.

These oh-so-tolerant liberals always want to move to predominately white countries. They never want to move to Venezuela or Zimbabwe.

I wonder what kind of welfare they think they will get in Canada.

I’ll bet this writer still has pimples.

Shut up and wash your face, kid. Crack some real history books and quit listening to your harebrained professors and the SJW losers. Maybe you’ll be worth something one day.

“this author”

Any punk kid with acne, a computer, and a liberal attitude, can be an ‘author’ these days. Guarantee you this scribbler was in junior high school when Obama was first elected.

This child is merely regurgitating their leftist indoctrination.

I've driven through a few college campuses recently and I can tell you that a college degree is becoming a joke. The schools don't care who they take as long as they got money. My daughter took one algebra class this semester at the community college. It cost over $800 for that one class. It's all about the money.
