Don’t move to Canada if Trump wins election
UMass Daily Collegian ^ | 9/19/16 | Margossian

... Trump winning the election in November is not reason to leave; on the contrary, it is the very reason we need to stay. To get to where he is today, the Republican nominee for president of the United States of America, Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers living in racially isolated areas, who feel that their voices are not being heard. To do so, he played on a fear that immigrants take American jobs, a fear that terrorism will spill into American borders and the general fear that America is no longer what it used to be. As a result, he amplified xenophobic, Islamaphobic, homophobic and other “othering” sentiments.

Consequently, Trump winning the election is not the main issue. Whether or not he wins the presidential election, his followers will remain, and so will the toxic sentiments that he brought to the surface. As these tensions rise, it becomes ever more important to combat injustice and fight for the rights of underrepresented groups.

That being said, the comments Trump has made throughout his campaign do pose potentially dangerous futures for minorities that Trump is targeting. Based on Trump’s proposed policies regarding Muslims and immigrants, America very well may become a dangerous place to live for those groups of people.

According to a poll by Vox/Morning Consult, 53 percent of Hispanic people, 38 percent of African Americans and 43 percent of “other nonwhite” people who participated in the poll answered that they were “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to “consider moving to another country, such as Canada...”

Liberals always threaten to leave whenever a Republican is running for the presidency. I still see/hear the same people who said they’d leave last time when Bush was elected and they’re still here.

I left this comment on the site:

If Trump wins you should flee the country. America, under a Trump regime, will turn into a true capitalist meritocracy. Such a country will hurt the minority of Americans who invested their time and have assumed serious debt to aquire advanced education in Urban Studies, Gender Studies, Womens Studies, Psychology, Sociology, and the like.

Trump will force us to work and actually produce. He says he will "Make America Great Again", and with his track record of delivering ahead of schedule and under budget, we should believe he will do what he says he will do.

I'm afraid we have no choice but to move to Canada, if they'll let us in....because we have no money, no skills, and obviously, no brains.

I figure there is a pretty good chance that when Trump wins there will be a lot of mayhem in our cities.

Absolutely not.

Trump is not a Republican like the rest of those in Washington, and if he wins this election it will be with the support of a surprising number of minorities in these cities.

Ask yourself this question: Why did a group of misfits like "Black Lives Matter" spring up during the administration of Barack Obama, of all people? It has nothing to do with partisan politics and everything to do with a simmering resentment that the black guy in the White House was a complete failure by any objective measure -- even for black Americans.

The clue here is that not only did "Black Lives Matter" spring up during the Obama administration, but they arrived on the scene late in his term in office when it became obvious that he was nothing more than a foreign-born interloper who is more interested in bringing immigrants to this country than in helping Americans at the bottom of the economic ladder.

This “snowflake’s” e-mail address is mmargossian@umass.edu.
All of you professional, college graduates flood her/him with e-mails. Be respectful and show her/him that it’s the Democrats who attract the under educated.

Please do move.

Just not to Canada ... it’s close by and would be too easy to return from.

I love it when undergrads try to make smart sounding noises.

“Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers living in racially isolated areas, who feel that their voices are not being heard.”

Lets break that down. Trump appealed to me from very early on, although he was not my initial pick.

1.) I have a doctorate,
2.) I have a white collar profession, although I do admit to lacking any of the truly needful skills which are diminished as ‘bluecollar’,
3.) As a (mostly) white individual, I have not lived in a predominately white city in over 26 years, and have been working alongside mostly blacks, and happily so, for most of the past four years, also traveled to or lived in fifteen other countries probably before you were born,
4.) and I am quite CERTAIN that my voice has not been heard, and indeed has been muffled since 1989 - until now.

We’re coming to take our country back from your feeble and incompetent hands, you and all your conceited, provincial, neurotic little elitist nothings.

...Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar...

It sounds as though the Democrats don't like people who refused to allow themselves to be programmed and indoctrinated by a bunch of Marxist professors on campuses that don't allow people to exercise their First Amendment rights. Well, I've got a college degree as do most of my friends. We're all #Neverclinton types. I'm also getting tired of the "media" piggies insulting hardworking, "blue collar" Americans due to the amount of education that they have. The people they are insulting are the people who make America work. The majority of Clinton supporters don't have high school diplomas and most are on welfare. The 'RATS never bring that up.

Trump appealed to less educated, blue-collar workers living in racially isolated areas

A couple of points:

  1. I'm edjumacated to the point of having graduated from an ivy league school with an advanced degree and I'm all for Trump. In fact as of today I've donated over $400 to the cause.
  2. It appalls and embarrasses me that someone who claims to be a college student is so shallow and so bigoted and above all so abysmally ignorant of what makes made this country great.
  3. Not only is the writer ignorant, but he apparently is proud of his ignorance displaying it for all to see.
  4. A screed such as this piece of well used toilet tissue shows just how shallow and simplistic the writer's mind and viewpoint is. It says a lot more about him than it does about Trump and his supporters.
Maybe he should move to Venezuela or North Korea and experience his 0bama/Clinton/liberal-moron utopia first hand.

Don’t worry. No leftist is leaving their cushy university life to protest a Trump presidency... or for any other reason on earth.

Perhaps this author should realize that those "less educated" folks out there supporting Trump are the ones that build and fix the homes in America. They grow and process the food that feeds us everyday. They repair the roads and make the cars and trucks that get us were we need to go.

Good ahead you intellectual snob and insult us, as your student loan increases.

It's quite revealing that we never hear about how Democratic politicians get where they are by appealing to "less educated" black and Hispanic voters, who also tend to "live in racially isolated areas." If Trump's appeal to working class whites is allegedly intolerable racial demagoguery, what do you call Clinton's support for BlackLivesMatter and similar groups?
