A Bone is Thrown (Mark Steyn on Rush today 9/16)
steynonline.com ^ | Sept 15 2016 | Mark Steyn

A Bone is Thrown Laura Rosen Cohen has been very patient, but it's getting to her: This has got to end. I can't take it anymore. I'm looking for signs of life, reported sightings, a lifeline, a something JUST THROW US A BONE!...COME BACK, MARK STEYN, COME BACK! That dull thud you hear is a thrown bone. After several months overseas researching a forthcoming project, Mark will be briefly interrupting his hiatus to return to the Golden EIB Microphone tomorrow, Friday, to guest-host for Rush on America's Number One radio show! If you're in possession of the necessary receiving apparatus, we hope you'll dial him up for three hours of substitute-host-level excellence in broadcasting, - and don't forget Friday is Open Line Friday, which means you can call Mark and talk about whatever you want to talk about - Hillary's pneumonia, Trump's maternity-leave plan, Fijian rugby, Sri Lankan cricket, whatever's uppermost in your mind Mark will be happy to chew over with you.

Marco is conservative on some things. he’d be preferable to Hillary any day. But there were several better candidates.

Though the Rubios would win on looks, I’ll say that much.

Oxycontin and fame has taken this guy down. I remember the Rush I first admired in the 1990’s. He was much more the every man, one of us. He encouraged entrepreneurs and is the reason I started my own business. He was a mentor then and an elite now. Sad.

Sad but true - good summation. He has been at it awhile, I guess I just see Trump as a vehicle for stopping the tide. I thought he would be good but never did I think he would be as awesome as he has been.

Lots of us have grown up with Trump and I imagine all of us have been quite surprised with how political adroit and just plain old creative in challenging Americans thinking and shifting the paradaigm back towards Americanism.

This guy is doing stuff more incredible in a more hostile environment then Ronald Reagan.

What has been happening in 2015-16 has been historically epic - I wish Rush was excited and energized about Trumps vision for a vibrate America full of makers and creators rather than talkers, fakers and takers.

But its all classic Eric Hoffer from True Believer I think, the talkers start stuff and eventually it takes a men/women of action to implement - the talkers and thinkers get shoved aside and start getting snarky.

Yeah and then pining and saying Cruz and Rubio conservatives - where was he during the primary - yeesh he leaking credibility like a catheter in a Hillary pant suit.

The Rush Whiners crack me up. He spends 1.5 hours
defending Trump and 1.5 hours attacking the
Clintons and liberalism every weekday. But that
ain’t good enough for some bed wetting haters.
Jeesh!

Mark Steyn has been very quiet the last two months. Glad he’ll be sitting in for Rush, and I hope we get continuing commentary for the rest of the election cycle.

I’m glad he subs for Rush but wish he had his own daily show. Even a weekend show would be great.

Isn’t that the irony? Rush has introduced millions to conservatism. Now, people beat their chests claiming that they are more conservative than Rush. Apparently, because Rush had the audacity to critize the Donald. boo hoo

Catching a bunch of politicians laughing in a photo—about anything!—always looks bad for them. Even worse when it’s bipartisan laughter. They always look like they’ve put one over on everyone.

-- ... Rush, he is part of the GOPe and wants Trump to win --

I think you got that backwards, omitted a "not" or something. But that's me reading your mind.

I agree. Trump is re-writing the book before our very eyes.

Not quite THAT good. Steyn is O.K., but his constant “stammering” repetition of words and short phrases as he speaks, really gets on my one nerve. It’s a patented mannerism of “intellectuals”. I want to shake him and yell, “Just TALK!”

Hi....

This was on Rush’s radio show yesterday, Thursday, Sept. 15th.

Rush was lamenting about how, according to him, we don’t have a conservative on the ticket for president.

He mentioned Cruz not getting the nomination, and how Rubio was a conservative. Rush then mentioned how many people didn’t believe that Rubio was a conservative because of Rubio’s support for the Gang of 8 Amnesty, etc. Rush then insisted that Rubio is conservative, blah blah blah.

Earlier in his show, Rush sounded like he had boarded the Trump Train, then with his later remarks about conservatives and Rubio, El Rushbo did a “tuck and roll” and jumped off that speeding train.

“His candidate Marco Rubio is the Conservative”

Not just conservative, but a “full-throated” conservative, a Ronald Reagan clone.

Rubio’s full-throated conservatism is what impels him to embrace amnesty for illegals.

There are those among us who feel the need to
“out conservative” everybody else. The attraction
to that fetish escapes me. I don’t care who doesn’t
listen to Limbaugh anymore. I started listening to his show
in early 1985 in Sacto on KFBK. Rush didn’t teach me what
to think, he confirmed what I already thought. If one
is mad enough to quit listening to Rush then he/she was
never ready to start listening in the first place.
They don’t get it.
