‘Disadvantaged’ Beverly Hills Fashionista Worked No-Show VA Job, Took Millions From Feds

A fashionista from Beverly Hills, Calif., collected millions in interior design contracts from federal agencies by claiming to be “disadvantaged,” while simultaneously working at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) sending work to design companies.

Ronda C. Jackson was a no-show at her VA job, colleagues said. Records show she instead spent her time running a design company that got $7 million in contracts from the VA and other government agencies since 2008, reselling them marked-up goods like five-seat tables for $17,000.

Since 1997, Jackson has run Décor Interior Design, which seeks preference on government contracts by claiming to be disadvantaged because she is black, a woman and based out of a supposedly downtrodden “Historically Underutilized Business Zone” (HUBZone). The reduced-competition contracting program is known as 8(a).

Jackson worked as a full-time federal employee at the Los Angeles VA center in fiscal years 2010 and 2011, which ran from Oct. 1, 2009 to Sept. 30, 2011. Pay records show she worked as a GS-12 level interior designer and made $80,000 each year. Colleagues said they never saw Jackson in the office.

This is only the tip of the iceberg? How much taxpayer money is being wasted on these “diverse”/”disadvantaged business” scams?

You can! All you have to do is “qualify:”

Décor Interior Design Inc. is a Los Angeles-based, SBA 8(a), HUBZone certified, woman-owned facility resource company....

I know plenty of companies where investors sought out appropriate people to be “owners” of a “small, disadvantaged business” they funded. . .

Government could be cut in half. Aside from the large number of unemployed people that would result from such cuts, everything else in society would function just fine.

We don’t need these positions. What we need to do is bite the bullet, make the reductions, and find meaningful work for the ex-bureaucrats.

Most “minority businesses” are just pass-throughs; they are set up to funnel procurement dollars through a “diverse” business that adds cost but no value to the transaction. The operations are often comprised of a figurehead minority person owner and a clerk to answer the phone in a makeshift office.

Doesn’t show up at her VA job; awards jobs to her own company; lies about her status; approves purchase of five-seat tables for $17,000 each; pockets millions.

Sounds like a mini-Hillary.

SO glad the Feds keep sich a close eye on their people and suppliers to make sure fraud doesn’t happen. They are good stewards,of,our tax dollars and really are looking out for the best interests of our vets.

At my company, we are winning lots of new business from companies we haven’t sold to before. We have to fill out their “New Suppler” forms. It REALLY gripes me every time we get to the section where we have to declare our special status to get preference contracts. The long arm of the Feds touches everyday life no matter where I go.

Taking apart the VA for corruption is very scary, because corruption is the glue that holds it together, and the services it renders (when it does) are provided to people to whom we owe so much.

Did those bureaucrats find meaningful work for the 93 million people (like me) whose careers they ended?

The funny thing about the feds is for most people, they’re sharp eyed, vigilant, and always ready to bring the hammer down to make sure they don’t pay out one penny more than they have to. Then for others they just watch millions or tens of millions walk away. It’s pay to play.

Understood.

I just don’t want these people to trade a government check at the VA with a government check at the Welfare line.

As far as I’m concerned they have been destructive moochers. I want them to stop being destructive (lose their gov’t job which hurts the public) and I want them to stop mooching (get a productive job in private industry).

I do understand that many of these people are basically unemployable, but at least in theory they should be forced to begin contributing to society.
