N. Korea says US pushing peninsula to 'explosion'

SEOUL (AFP) - North Korea on Wednesday accused the United States of pushing the Korean Peninsula to "the point of explosion" after it dispatched two huge bombers in a show of force against Pyongyang.

The supersonic B-1B Lancers flew over South Korea Tuesday as Washington vowed its "unshakeable commitment" to defend its allies in the region following North Korea's fifth and largest-ever nuclear test conducted last week.

Washington called the demonstration "just one example of the full range of military capabilities". It took similar military actions following previous atomic tests.

North Korea labelled the flyover by the "infamous" nuclear bombers as Washington's attempt to seek "an opportunity of mounting a preemptive nuclear attack," referring to US plans to deploy further strategic assets to the peninsula.

"These extremely reckless provocations of the US imperialist warmongers are pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the point of explosion hour by hour," the state-run KCNA news agency said.

In order to fix the North Korea problem, we must first fix the China problem.

The way to do that is to deploy 50 Pershing IIs in Japan and another 50 each in South Korea and the Philippines.

Pre-emptive strike it is definitely in order, are we going to wait till this psycho launches a nuclear attack?

Is this an Obama plan to start a war so elections can be cancelled?

The typical exercise of N. Korea lashing out what has become a routine show-off with no teeth. I suspect that they know it, too. I doubt that they feel really threatened.

I agree that N. Korean problem is interlocked with Chinese. We can't solve one without the other. Deploying missile defense in S. Korea is a modest measure in this regard.

"INF treaty got rid of Pershing II’s and nuclear armed Tomahawks."

That Treaty was with the Soviet Union, sense extended to Russia.

We have no Treaty with China or the Norks that restricts deployment of arms to our allies in the Pacific, and certainly China is deploying whatever they want in the region.

I know the treaty was with the USSR but we destroyed the missiles.

You can’t deploy what doesn’t exist.

"You can’t deploy what doesn’t exist."

Understood.

But they're not expensive as far as nukes go.

Road mobile, you can put two of them in a C-5. They have a range of 900miles and get there very quick.

A maneuverable warhead with a 100m CEP.

We could build them, then deploy 100 of them in 24hrs.

He’s long overdue for a 9mm migraine. I’m actually kind of surprised nobody has whacked him yet.

The Japanese want the American footprint off their islands. Yet they want and need our protection. Can’t have it both ways.

Something is cooking.

North Korean numbers via PBS Pyongyang on 6400 & 3320 kHz, and other simulcasts of it.
