Kaine: Pretty sure the Catholic Church will accept the progressive gospel on same-sex marriage
Hot Air ^ | September 12, 2016 | Ed Morrissey

Repent, secular heretic, and embrace the revelation du jour! Over the weekend, Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Kaine spoke at a Human Rights Watch event, extolling the virtues of his running mate on LGBTQ rights and dismissing Donald Trump’s claims to championing their interests. Kaine took a detour from that mission, though, to offer a campaign promise unlike anything ever seen. Kaine, a Catholic, noted that his unconditional support for same-sex marriage puts him at odds with his church, but predicted that the Vatican would adopt the progressive gospel in the future:

“My full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality is at odds with the current doctrine of the church that I still attend,” Kaine said at a dinner celebrating gay rights. “But I think that’s going to change, too.” …

Kaine said he wanted to be honest about his own struggles with reconciling his advocacy of equal rights with the teachings of a church that restricts marriage to a man and woman.

“My church also teaches me about a Creator in the first chapter of Genesis who surveys the entire world including mankind and said, ‘It is very good. It is very good,’” Kaine said.

“Who am I to challenge God for the beautiful diversity of the human family?” he added. “I think we’re supposed to celebrate, not challenge it.”

Kaine is a closet case. Pretty obvious.

The Catholic Church will go with the flow as long as those billion dollar refuge resettlement programs from the government come rolling in.

Jeez, that’s an even more cynical take than mine, which was more along the lines of liberal cultural corruption.

Google all the contracts let to NGOs (non governmental organizations) who have been given the duty to resettle all the refugee terrorists in this country. The Catholic Church is certainly not under-represented. This has been going on for YEARS!

Looks like the Catholic Church is reverting back to it's Roman Empire roots.

Wasn’t it GWB’s idea to use private charities to dispense aid, because they had the experience and infrastructure? Like many decent-sounding ideas, it’s gotten all twisted around.

“....Until Pope Francis steps down next year once he turns 80.”

I wouldn’t count on it. If he does, he’ll try to pass the baton to Kaspar the Unfriendly Heretic. Or somebody even worse.

But will the Church accept your “open marriage” you twitted about in July of 2015 Timmie Boy?

“So do you think God will change his mind, too?”

Good question. Really good question.

That particular case of premise smuggling slid right past me all this time. Great catch.

If sodomy is no longer an abomination, that can only mean that: (1) God has changed his mind; (2) The Bible is not the word of God; or (3) There is no God. Any one of these three propositions would be the death of Christianity.

How fortunate we are that they are all false.

The Catholic Church will accept gay marriage in our lifetime.

Then it will cease to be the Catholic Church. Holy Matrimony is one of the 7 Sacraments, i.e. a sacramental union between a man and a woman.

Things like this are why it is so significant that the Democrat party, in their previous convention in 2012, loudly rejected God three times.

Since then, any pretension they have of being people of faith, or seeking redemption or salvation, or exhibiting the kindness of those with moral compass, is lost. Without God they are amoral creatures, invested in the seven deadly sins as their sacraments, and their path is one of evil and destruction.

a church that restricts marriage to a man and woman

It's not the Catholic Church that's restricting anything. It's the meaning of a noun that's at issue.

Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised with this pope. Gotta throw in his support for abortion too.

Frankie becomes a non-pope and a non-person the moment that we again have an actual CATHOLIC as pope. His works will become as ignored as they deserve to be. His imbecilic derelictions of duty and expressions of heresy will go down the memory hole.

God help the Catholic Church to stay strong and pure in the face of vile reprobates like Kaine.

My Rules of Logical Argument:

#1: Always look for the premises underlying the opponent’s argument;

#2: Never accept them;

#3: Bring the issue back to your “home turf.”

#4: Look for a logical connection to a historical precedent where they have taken your position (incredibly effective against liberals because they always do this).

"My full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality is at odds with the current doctrine of the church that I still attend,” Kaine said at a dinner celebrating gay rights. “But I think that’s going to change, too."

And after a couple of Supreme Court nominations, the Catholic Church can be forced to perform gay weddings.
