You make a good point.

We live semi rural we have 2 grocery stores. Kroger’s where you get gas pts and good service in a clean store.

Or Boss Hogg Nafieh owned grocery store with higher prices that is dirty and smells. (former TN D State Rep)

Or I could drive round trip 22 miles and use the Navy Commissary, same prices but no gas pts. And I can’t carry my gun on base. Kroger’s says noting if I open carry. TN is an Open Carry state.

I only go to the Commissary when we have med refills or a new med script. I shop at Kroger’s because they do give good service, gas pts and a clean store. Some one always ask if I want my groceries taken to the car as I’m often in an electric cart due to spine damage.

Half the games have half the stadium empty, of course there are some die hard fans for a few of the teams but some teams are dead franchises walking kept on life support by over priced TV rights. I will watch a Packer game I like its players and coaches and of course the history but I absolutely turn the channel at commercial time. The silly insulting “white male” goof characters versus the noble protected classes is too much, I’m over white guilt.

They can do the eagle rock for all I care. It doesn’t amount to a bucket of spit.

Pats won! That’s what is important.

Yeah, lifelong football fan here and i wouldn’t have known it if you didn’t tell me because i refuse to watch.

NOT ONE other fan that i know has stopped watching. Football. Not stopped eating. Stopped watching a game.

Because no pleasure can be given up in America. Ever By the left or, let’s be honest, most of the right

Kinda makes you want to say”you deserve what you get, America” if a dem wins.

Doesn’t mean i want that AT ALL, just means those americans would deserve it. spoiled brats country, it is.

You have a point. BUT - UW Football is a HUGE money-maker and I doubt Barry Alvarez (Athletic Director, past Coach, Rose Bowl wins many times over) will let ANYTHING harm THAT cash cow.

I was at a game last year and Author James Patterson, whose wife is an Alumni, presented us with a check...

FOR TEN MILLION DOLLARS!

I’m betting you’re not going to see any foolishness from Barry’s Boys...well, at least while ON the field. They get in plenty of trouble in their off time. ;)

Gosh darn it, I missed the whole thing because I didn’t tune in. In fact, I have not watched a game so far this season.

Remove the NFL tax exempt status and make the team owners buy the stadiums.

That bucket is bigger than a pool, but when a sport and the clowns promoting it (ESPN) start pushing the agenda and fans continue to flock (as we see that they are) then I’ll gladly wash my hands of professional sports.

I say that as an athlete and coach. IMHO it’s not just a handful of morons either.

Oh yeah, no question.

My mom got very emotional she said, with the Ravens’ opening. I have not been able to see it yet. But she says they better not do any of that Kaepernick crap, or it’s over.

And I will be kind of shocked if she would deny them. But then, she loves country more than her Ravens or Colts. Priorities are reasonably straight. That’s what scares me about Steeler stuff (and Rooney, how could he be such a showman for Uhbama?).

It’s the culture associated with the sport.

Ghetto will never be the NHL culture. It won’t be tolerated - ever!

Soccer & Baseball are sadly moving rapidly to ghetto culture.

I can quote 75% of ghetto athletes full responses by using “uh”, “you know”, and “I mean”.

They are complete Buffoons and most honest people would agree.

Yes, yes “make them build or pay for their places of business.”
I’ve always said that. And they have the balls to threaten leaving town if the taxpayer doesn’t pony up. Well, don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

“Watch this spread to MLB.”

There’s no doubt that some MLB players want to do this, but in the MLB self policing from players is much easier. No one wants to get stuck with an unavoidable 90+ mph in the ribs. In NFL, each game means so much the cool players have to tolerate the nonsense jerks. That’s why you have fruity celebration gyrations and chest slapping displays over meaningless plays. No one moonwalks down to first after a routine single in a 10-1 baseball game, you or a teammate would eat it for that sooner or later. But we’ll see, it could happen I suppose.

you're right about the pleasure principle....

however, a casual interest in sports is not a bad thing...if you don't go to the games, or buy their crap,or buy extra tv channels to watch the stuff, what harm is done?...

but we do need to take the immense emotional investment out of our liking professional sports....it needs to be an "oh well" type of attitude...

now we really love and enjoy our local college womens bb team....really devoted to them, and so are many others.....but just let them try to force half men on us, we're out...

There is that too. 60% white, if I recall. But Adam Jones, a black player I actually dig, seemed to express sympathy for the NFL players and said MLB is a white man’s sport. So who knows. I could see a popular black player maybe making a deal about it and nothing happening, but it would be riskier than in the NFL despite the violence of NFL level football.

In conversations with the Chief of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police a few years ago, it’s clear that Dan Rooney isn’t “The Old man” and the upstanding community leader he pretends to be. He apparently has some significant character-related “challenges”...
