The DC Gaslight District

I turn on the news and want to scream – another poll with Hillary Clinton in the lead! How? She's all but dropped out of the race, and a new Clinton scandal breaks every half-hour. So how is she winning?

It makes my head spin. Hillary disappears – her numbers go up. She mishandles classified information and breaks the law – her numbers go up. She's nailed for her Clinton Foundation pay-to-play scheme – her numbers go up. I feel as though I've been blindfolded and spun in circles, confused, off-balance, questioning reality

Hillary leaves the 9/11 commemoration as the result of her continuing major medical saga.....and she is 'just fine' a couple of hours later, the major league 'spin machine' continues....Are we witnessing the closing hours of a CONGENITAL LIAR?

The feelings I've just described, along with loss of joy, depression, and withdrawal, are characteristics of a victim of abuse – gaslighting, to be exact. And that's exactly what our government and media have been doing to the American people.

This article needs to get out there, backs up phony polls and voter fraud with links.

FWIW, The Lowell Sun in MA has an on-going poll every Sunday and Hillary has been steadily dropping.

Trump is currently leading with 60%.
Hillary now is at 30%.

That’s in MA, folks.

They can’t “doctor up” every poll. The ones that show her doing well are the doctored ones.

Those online polls are meaningless - they are not random samples of the voting population.

As for whether they are doctored up, how many times have you seen posts here that start with “freep this poll”?

It’s not just polls. They’ve been gaslighting us on Hilary’s health for example. Even today after that pitiful event, they’re telling us nothing to see, she’s back and she’s fine.

So sad our media conspires with tyrants to defeat us.

The polls are designed to demoralize you. You are supposed to accept Hillary's inevitable election. If you are demoralized, then it worked.

Her numbers have been dropping for weeks now.

And this author says her numbers are going up?

It doesn’t matter to her supporters what she does or say, same for Trumps supporters.

They are just vessels that embody views and values of their supporters, the only people possibly affected are the few undecided, who have no clue of their own values.

You equate Rotten Cankles’ supporters with Trump’s?

There are no decent people among Rotten Cankles’ supporters.

Most of Trump’s supporters are decent people.

Trump would lose their support in a heartbeat if he showed himself to be half the depraved monster that Rotten Cankles is.

I agree about the gaslighting. It’s the old Soviet disinformation tactics - the American left has learned it well. The best way to fight it is to shut off the TV (and not just the news but everything - it’s mind poison) don’t read the papers. This does two things, it keeps your sanity and destroys their bottom line.

And strangely fitting for what Democrats and their press boys are doing to the country.

He’s not far off the mark. As long as a politician convincingly says he will do stuff that you agree with, you will give him a tremendous amount of benefit of the doubt. And that goes for both sides.

You see, politics (i.e. perceived self interest) trumps everything.

By the way, I’m a big Trump supporter, but I’m a realist, too.

“As long as a politician convincingly says he will do stuff that you agree with, you will give him a tremendous amount of benefit of the doubt.”

That’s the old model. It lies in shards on the floor.

“And that goes for both sides.”

Trump’s nomination shows that it no longer does. For that matter, that Gingrich was kicked to the curb years ago shows that it wasn’t as true for the Stupid Party as it remains for the Evil Party.

“You see, politics (i.e. perceived self interest) trumps everything.”

And that is what Trump supporters have rejected. If your perceived self-interest trumps your love of country, you have no moral right to draw the breath of life.

“By the way, I’m a big Trump supporter, but I’m a realist, too.”

That reality no longer governs, at least for now.

I am proud to say that about 15 years ago I did exactly what you recommend here, and I have never regretted it for a minute. Whenever people ask me why no TV or newspapers my answer always seems to start them thinking. I simply say that I don’t like being lied to.

“That’s the old model. It lies in shards on the floor.”

Oh really! So you like Trump because you disagree with him and you haven’t given him a pass (or rationalized away) the fact that he was a big Hillary and other dem donor, thought that Bloomberg was a great mayor as well as endorsing DeBlasio?

“For that matter, that Gingrich was kicked to the curb years ago shows that it wasn’t as true for the Stupid Party as it remains for the Evil Party.”

That’s right, that’s why the republicans selected as their nominee the original author of ObamaCare - Mitt Romney.

“If your perceived self-interest trumps your love of country, you have no moral right to draw the breath of life.”

You have a very narrow, naive and shortsighted understanding of “self-interest”. Self interest is not just about what I can finagle from someone tomorrow. The wise person sees self interest in much broader and longer terms than some monetary recompense. It’s recognizing that promoting the right cultural values is in your long term interest. As for love of country, what does that mean? When I say that I love this country, it hasn’t much to do with its geography (great as it is). It has to do with loving what used to be its dominant culture and values. The respect of freedom WITH RESPONSIBILITY (something usually left out), respect of the individual, of property rights, of limited government, and the rights enumerated in the bill of rights. These are the things that define MY LONG TERM SELF INTEREST. If they exist, my short term interests are much more easily taken care of.

“That reality no longer governs, at least for now.”

You should try to be more honest with yourself (Not an easy thing to do, I know). Also you should have a better and more fundamental understanding of terms like “self interest”, “politics”, “love of country”.
