Sources tell News10NBC that Assemblyman Bill Nojay has committed suicide.

Officers were called to the Riverside Cemetery on Lake Avenue around 9:20 Friday morning for reports of shots fired. Sources say Nojay, 59, was found dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The New York Daily News reports Nojay was at his family burial plot.

Investigator Frank Camp says officers saw a man shoot himself. At this time investigators are not making a connection to Bill Nojay. The investigation is ongoing.

We're told Nojay was supposed to turn himself in on Friday for fraud charges. According to a report from the Khmer Times of Cambodia, he and three others convinced a woman to invest in a company that would send rice to the U.S. The woman claims that eight months after sending her investment she learned the company was bankrupt.

Fraud charges were no doubt trumped up by King Andrew Cuomo who was his political enemy.

I’m sure champagne corks are popping in Albany. Bill was the only one for the most part holding back the Cuomo regime.

“ShotS”?? Fired???? I guess his first shot didn’t kill him. I gotta think this was arkancide, not suicide.

Shots? As in more than one?

Just for information purposes, how is a gun suicide categorized in gun crime statistics? Not knowing the ethnicity of this crime but in the case of these crimes is a counter added to both the perp and victim categories within the ethnicity groups? If someone of mixed heritage as our leader does this, would it be half and half? Inquiring minds want to know!

“Shots fired” is standard cop/dispatcher radio lingo for any time there is a gunshot being reported.

Very sad indeed, too young for this. Vaguely remember that Mr. Nojay led RTS at one time, of his cutting costs and helping it become financially stable.

Some of the head-stones at that cemetery are amazing. Haven’t been through there in many years, but still remember one in particular - it was an angel laying over the top of a headstone. The details of the angel and her facial expression (sadness, compassion, love) still sticks with me.

Unless Cuomo is also King of Cambodia, where the fraud charges were filed, he probably didn’t have much to do with this case.

Well, Cuomo sounds Sicilian, don’t it? Maybe some bent nose helped this suicide.

AbolishCSEU :" I’m sure champagne corks are popping in Albany. Bill was the only one for the most part holding back the Cuomo regime."

Described as "the most Conservative Representative in Albany ", and he took great honor in that distinction.
He put the service in public servant, and represented his constituency well; held back the SAFE ACT until legislators could actually read the bill, to find out what was in it.
I believe this company that he was associated with was one of his forays into private business.
He not so jokingly said that NYS legislators were too highly paid for the 67 days that the State Assembly was in session,
and Cuomo wants to raise the salaries by $70,000. this year.
