The Trump campaign built a large policy shop in Washington that has now largely melted away because of neglect, mismanagement and promises of pay that were never honored. Many of the team’s former members say the campaign leadership never took the Washington office seriously and let it wither away after squeezing it dry.
Donald Trump often brags about having experts and senior former officials advising him. Wednesday night in a forum on national security, he said, “We have admirals, we have generals, we have colonels. We have a lot of people that I respect.” It’s true that Trump is getting high-level policy advice on a regular basis from senior experts such as Rudy Giuliani and retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn. But Trump has never acknowledged the policy shop based in Washington that has been doing huge amounts of grunt work for months without recognition or compensation.
Since April, advisers never named in campaign press releases have been working in an Alexandria-based office, writing policy memos, organizing briefings, managing surrogates and placing op-eds. They put in long hours before and during the Republican National Convention to help the campaign look like a professional operation.
But in August, shortly after the convention, most of the policy shop’s most active staffers quit. Although they signed non-disclosure agreements, several of them told me on background that the Trump policy effort has been a mess from start to finish.
“It’s a complete disaster,” one disgruntled former adviser told me. “They use and abuse people. The policy office fell apart in August when the promised checks weren’t delivered.”

The Trump presidential run has been so refreshing because it has shined the light on and forced out of their deep, dark establishment hiding places all of the neocons, globalists and Democrat infiltrators who are destroying the GOP from within. None of the other GOP presidential candidates would of exposed all these nefarious factions within the party. Certainly not Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, etc. The smell of panic within the globalist cabal is unmistakable now!

Earlier this year, I volunteered a small amount of my time to the Trump campaign. I was never an employee, never signed an employment or consulting contract, and never quit anything.
I have been a fan of Mr. Trump since he declared his candidacy for President of the United States. Never in my lifetime have I been this excited about a GOP presidential nominee. I have zero interest in the internal politics of the campaign or the gripes of its former staffers who are now talking to the media. I firmly support Mr. Trump's policy positions and believe he will Make America Great Again.

According to former employees, they were told they would be paid when Corey Lewandowski was campaign manager. But Paul Manafort, who replaced Lewandowski in July, said the staffers would remain unpaid.

Trump uses the Heritage Foundation. And he has Jeff Sessions and Steve Miller to advise him on immigration and trade. Waste of money to fund his own policy shop.
I agree that this is another case of a certain class of experts who rely on campaign season work, and who are mad that Trump isn't following the playbook of hiring and paying a bloated campaign bureaucracy.
Trump isn't wasting money with a bloated campaign, hence the criticism and backstabbing.
They are terrified, and in panic.

Heritage, CATO and hundreds of other think tanks compete for the attention of politicians. Their ideas are readily available.
The only reason to have a think tank inhouse is the egos of those who can’t get into the big name think tanks.

This is nothing but Washington DC Establishment insiders pitching a snarky anonymous fit. It is all about money, not Mr. Trump’s policy positions. Like any business leaders taking over a failed company, Mr. Trump is eliminating dead weight, overpriced liabilities, and everything else that is directly related to the root cause of the problem. The people complaining are those who have helped create the nightmare we face as a nation. They are part of the problem.
What this Washington Post article and the cowards quoted within have unintentionally revealed is just how out of touch these people are in regards to the real world and the lack of a basic understanding of what a leader does to turn a failed enterprise into a successful functional business.

Trump was right to banish Washington Post reporters from his campaign venues. These people are straight up domestic enemies of the republic.
The real policy work in the Trump campaign is now done by a small team based in New York’s Trump Tower, led by Stephen Miller, the staffer who leads the writing of Trump’s policy speeches and travels with the candidate. There are other paid staffers in New York, including deputy policy director Dan Kowalski. Walid Phares, the Middle East adviser on Trump’s policy team, was getting paid $13,000 a month in addition to being a paid analyst on Fox News.
Sounds like the operation has simply been consolidated at Trump Tower in New York, where the rest of the campaign is headquartered.
