Gun sales on track to set a record
CNN Money ^

Guns are selling at unprecedented levels this summer, which means 2016 is well on its way to breaking the all-time record for background checks.

Background checks conducted by the FBI totaled 1,853,815 in August 2016, a 6% increase from August 2015.

That's the most checks ever in the month of August since the FBI started conducting background checks in 1998. In fact, every monthly tally this year has hit an all-time high, meaning that 2016 is on track to be the record year for background checks and, by proxy, gun sales.

I am in for 5 this year, and possibly 6. One could always use another Glock.

Yee Haw! I imagine it won’t be long before CAIR starts demanding that the government confiscate all guns from We the People. They don’t want any of their boys getting hurt when the big one comes.

Carry permits are also proliferating and if you have one, at least in Florida, you don’t have to get the background check.

One suspects that the issuing of new concealed carry permits/licenses is similarly increasing.

Not too many pistols better than a Glock.

The Glock pistol, sometimes referred to by the manufacturer as a Glock "Safe Action" Pistol or colloquially as a Glock, is a series of polymer-framed, short recoil-operated, locked-breech semi-automatic pistols designed and produced by Glock Ges.m.b.H., located in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria.

I didn't know it was Austrian. Austria produced the Glock and Hitler.

And many good desserts.

I was Glock “hater” for many years and lets just say that I have seen the light this year. Have had too many FTF’s/FTE’s on pistols costing much more than a Glock, and am sick of hearing that you must run a certain type of ammo through it, or you need to shoot 500 rounds to work out any kinks. A SD weapon should not have any kinks and should work with all ammo. Like a Glock!

Cannot believe I am a Glockophile! Have a G19 and a G43 and want to get another simply to have. Possibly a 26 though the 19 is the perfect size and weight.

Me too! I got my very first AR. I ordered the 6.5 Grendel 24" Overwatch Complete Upper Assembly from Alexander Arms. And picked up all the lower pieces locally.

My son put it all together for me. I went out once to the range. Shot a .769, (.732 with the first 4 in .322) Then a .785, .655, .586 and 1.245 for my last group.

I am one happy camper.

I’d like to help, but I’ve got a permit, so there are no background checks when I buy in Mississippi. I’ve only bought one so far this year, but I intend to get another in the next few weeks. I decided to get what I want and order reloading components at least a month before the election. My new progressive press should arrive this Friday.

I would love to see a pie chart or some other graph outlining the percentages of sales of small arms and ammo comparing civilian an military/law enforcement purchases over say ... The past 1p years.

I’m sure it would be a shock to many.

No Glocks yet. I started out with revolvers. Ruger Blackhawk, Single-Six, S&W 36.

Then dabbled with surplus pistols. Astra400, CZ52, CZ70.

My first new pistol was a 1911Govt.

Now my son was the pistol addict. He has several Sigs, a FN, and a CZ75 that I like a lot.

But now he too has the revolver bug. He first picked up a S&W 386 and now a couple weeks ago bought the S&W 69.

That Model 69 is really sweet, but I really want one of those CZ75's. Or a SIG 45 Compact. Too many to choose from.

Have you built one before? I never have, but I’ve been thinking about giving it a shot with a 300 Blackout myself.

I have built 4. Assembly is simple with instructions on youtube. The only tools you’ll need are a hammer, screwdriver, and a set of roll pin punches. The only tricky part is getting the front detent pin in.
