Professors advise students to drop class if they question climate change
The Washington Times ^ | August 31, 2016 | Valerie Richardson

DENVER — The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is coming under fire after three professors warned their class that there would be no debate on human-caused climate change and that any students who disagree should drop the course.

The professors, who are team-teaching the fall online course Medical Humanities in the Digital Age, issued the memo after some students expressed concerns about the first online lecture on climate change, according to the College Fix, which obtained a copy of the email.

“The point of departure for this course is based on the scientific premise that human induced climate change is valid and occurring,” said the professors. “We will not, at any time, debate the science of climate change, nor will the ‘other side’ of the climate change debate be taught or discussed in this course.”

“Opening up a debate that 98% of climate scientists unequivocally agree to be a nondebate would detract from the central concerns of environment and health addressed in this course,” they added.

For those who disagree with the course’s premise, “we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next.”

The plan should have been for the students who didn’t want to study “climate change” should have banded together and all walked out at once .. DIRECTLY TO THE COLLEGE OFFICE; DEMANDED A PROFESSOR WHO WILL TEACH THE SUBJECT AND NOT TRY TO INDOCTRINATE THEM WITH GARBAGE SCIENCE.

Somebody has to start it .. why not the students ..???

How open minded of them.
Nothing must interfere with the indoctrination.

In a sane world these pieces of sheet would be fired.

Two of the professors are in the Ammerican Literature area. Not sure about the third.

Total bs.

Sounds to me like these ‘perfessers’ are not secure in their own beliefs on the topic, so wish to not have anyone around who might actually make them defend what they profess.

They’re not teaching. They are advocating.

The student should jump on top of a desk and shout as loud as he can “You didn’t provide me the required Trigger Warning. I ACCUSE you of insensitivity. I DEMAND my Safe Space to protect me from your insensitive thoughts!” and then haul them before the university tribunal.

The charge against Galileo was for presenting scientific theory as fact.

True.

But most people don't remember that.

They remember that he was eventually proven right not that according to all the evidence at the time his theory was at best inconclusive.

On the other side there was evidence for the alternative theory.

It should a lesson on how easy it is to read evidence wrong and that just because we can not prove something does not mean that it is totally wrong. If you look at a lot of other people that did the same thing (taught theory as fact) you will find the vast majority of them were full of hokum.

>>Shouldn’t that over in either philosophy or a scifi literature course in the literature depts?

Not philosophy. In real philosophy, you learn how to think critically. Global warming requires that you suspend critical thought and believe in the science of consensus as determined by scientists who are competing for government grant money and that government isn’t paying scientists to disprove global warming.

Sure hope people would not be stupid enough to spend good money to sign up for something where they are told exactly how to think.

No kidding. That statement is the babbling of a drug addled schizophrenic. It’s nothing more than a string of words that mimic a coherently structured thought.

Thanks for the warning, prof! No sense wasting time and money on your class.

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is coming under fire after three professors warned their class that there would be no debate on human-caused climate change and that any students who disagree should drop the course.

Who needs science anymore? The "professors" simply declared that mankind, not the Sun, is the primary cause of climate change. What a deal.

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs should be closed and the "students" sent home. There is no scientific method at the University of Colorado, only Democrats.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

For those who disagree with the course’s premise, “we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next.”

I wonder if they feel a sense of recognition when their fellow SJWs search out bakeries and flower shops run by religious people? In almost every venue there are 'options' for getting the same service, but not to get SJW kudos for attacking the establishment! Query - is the University considered a 'Public Accomodation' under the Human Rights rules?
