Professors advise students to drop class if they question climate change
The Washington Times ^ | August 31, 2016 | Valerie Richardson

DENVER — The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is coming under fire after three professors warned their class that there would be no debate on human-caused climate change and that any students who disagree should drop the course.

The professors, who are team-teaching the fall online course Medical Humanities in the Digital Age, issued the memo after some students expressed concerns about the first online lecture on climate change, according to the College Fix, which obtained a copy of the email.

“The point of departure for this course is based on the scientific premise that human induced climate change is valid and occurring,” said the professors. “We will not, at any time, debate the science of climate change, nor will the ‘other side’ of the climate change debate be taught or discussed in this course.”

“Opening up a debate that 98% of climate scientists unequivocally agree to be a nondebate would detract from the central concerns of environment and health addressed in this course,” they added.

For those who disagree with the course’s premise, “we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next.”

So much for the idea that college is a place of free expression, exploring varying ideas and concepts, and expanding one’s knowledge or horizons. Unless you buy into global warming, forget about it??? Really?????

I’m so old, I remember when “Institutions of Higher Learning” welcomed diverse opinions.

Seems reasonable considering the whole course is based on the assumption it’s a fact, and is simply considering the possible impacts of that warming were it to be true.

So students are not there to learn but to be indoctrinated. Galileo comes to mind. These are not objective teachers, but useful whores and idiots.

98% of climate scientists agree that global warming in man made. Wow I haven’t seen those numbers since USSR elections. As Stalin said it isn’t who votes, its who counts the votes.

If you aren’t a sceptic you aren’t a scientist.

they demand access to colleges and universities they disagree with. demand their’sides’be’heard and given validation.

they refuse’to do the same to those they disagree with.

indoctrination, not learning.

I think Saddam Hussein used to get 99% of the vote in his elections. And I think the various Kims who have run North Korea generally have gotten between 99% and 100% of the vote...........

To me this would be the same as course studying “what if” the world was flat.

The fact that the world isn’t flat isn’t the point. The point is to brainstorm the “what if” if it were, not to debate the point of if the world truly is flat or not.

Pure conjecture based on fiction isn’t scientific fact...
