I agree with you. My daughter is eighteen and has asked if she can keep a gun in her car. She’s a responsible person and has been shooting with me since she was a small child, so I’m confident she can handle a firearm. I’m in the process of verifying if it’s legal in my state for her to have it. I believe it is, but I want to make sure. A few months ago she was on her way to church one evening and someone in a van pulled up beside her and threw something. The driver-side front window shattered and she was covered with safety glass. She said it sounded like an explosion. By God’s grace she was able to maintain control and didn’t have a wreck, but it really shook her up. It happened in an isolated spot, so I keep wondering what would have happened had she wrecked or been forced to stop. She’s 110 lbs and wholly incapable of defending herself against an attacker without a weapon.
I have never understood why nobody challenges the current gun laws using the liberal logic. o liberals, every thing is “intent”. Hillary did not intend on doing anything bad so she is not going to prison. Drug dealers did not intend to kill anybody so they get off.
Anyone should be able to buy a gun. Once they show their criminal intent, they lose these rights. But not before.
It is high past time our side stops merely defending our rights, and starts to go on the offensive to gain them back.
If she’s too young, then make sure she has other weapons on her at all times and PRACTICES how to use them. A kubaton keychain, a lipstick container pepper spray, a knife disguised as an ink pen, etc. so she can have them at school or when entering target friendly buildings and a taser and a blinding flashlight. If she’s living on her own, make whatever structural security improvements you can and place everyday weapons in each room. Sign her and your wife up for a self defense class.
Sometimes you have to remember, “better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6”.
