Mark Levin aka "The Great One" has always been a conservative and friend of Free Republic

Whatever Mark Levin (and other like-minded conservatives) do this election they will compromise their conservative principles ... either by voting for Donald Trump (who they consider to be a flawed candidate with questionable -- at best -- conservative credentials) or by failing to defend our Constitution from the vicious and unrelenting attacks of the Left -- despite knowing that the only way they can do so this year is by voting for Donald Trump.

I'm going to disagree, slightly: Levin already has compromised, precisely because of his endorsement of Ted Cruz. As a Constitutional scholar he should know that someone born outside the US to an alien father and possibly ex-citizen mother isn't a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution. — This is obvious given just a moment of thought: imagine an NBC who, as member of the first generation of natural-born citizens, moves to Europe and marries into the royal family of England, say the Crown Princess, and they have a son: if the NBC qualification is conferred on him, then that son (who is in-line for the throne) is also eligible for President. — Thus one of the greatest fears of the founders would be realized by the very mechanism adopted to prevent it. (Namely the natural born citizen requirement, which was advised by John Jay in a letter: Permit me to hint whether it would not be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government, and to declare expressly that the Command in chief of the American army shall not be given to, nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.)

So we see w/ this (albeit informal) proof-by-contradiction that endorsing Cruz undermines the Constitution; now a lot of people were deceived by Cruz's assertions of his eligibility, but someone like Mr. Levin (a Constitutional lawyer/scholar) should be beyond excuse in the matter.

My working theory is that the 2012 and 2008 (esp.) elections were st up to push Constitutionally ineligible/questionable candidates into the office and use that precedence to erode the qualification requirement, which is obviously nationalistic in its purpose and execution, by the globalists that have infested the political caste of our country. Just my theory, but given how hard the GOPe pushed Cruz (and tried/tries to beat down Trump) it seems to qualify for the three times is enemy action rule.

For all those interested, John Bachelor is very much worth listening to, imho. (Very well informed, very bright, also a Christian minister). Most frequent topics: politics, current international events (Russia, Iran, Mid-east, etc.), space exploration... Anyway, we’ve loved his program for years....you might like it, too. No angry invective or ugly name-calling, though, so if you want that you will just have to listen to X or Y or read comments on certain political websites we won’t mention, ha!

you can sample recent John Bachelor programs to see if you’d be interested.... (and if you are, you can listen live directly on several major radio station sites or via links from this website... to current Bachelor programs nightly from WABC New York) here...So far as I know there’s no charge (and he’s carried on many Cumulus Network local stations possibly in your area):

I agree Jim. When Rush starts to get to me I turn him off. Radios come with an off switch.

Trump sure doesn’t need advice from mark Levin! of all people. He’s done quite well doing just the opposite.

If and when Trump happens to do something that Mark suggested I’m sure Mark will be right there to take credit for something Trump himself did.

I used to have a lot of respect for Mark Levin and his defense of the Constitution, but personally, I never liked listening to his rants on the radio. Just not my cup of tea in that regard. However, his irrational disdain for Donald Trump has made me lose all respect for him.

There’s not one thing that Trump has proposed to do as president to warrant such hatred from him. In fact, if anything, Donald Trump will give the Constitution of the United States of America, it’s greatest authority in decades.

I get it that he does not consider Trump a conservative, and that he would prefer someone else. But we’ve got to play the cards we hold, or suffer through life with Hillary.

You are star struck. Levin is no friend of our Constitution.

I like John Bachelor’s show very much. It airs in my region from 9-1 so I listen to his program while I drift asleep (not to suggest his content puts me to sleep LOL). He always has interesting guests on to discuss a variety of topics.

Exactly, like Trump says, “We hold all the cards”. We just have needed someone who knows how to play them.

TRUMP KNOWS.

If Levin were right about our trade policy why aren’t all nations striving for annual trade deficits?

Great post, Jim and sorely needed. As you stated, we are where we are. The battle is joined and the choice is simple. It’s Trump or darkness in America.

I cannot listen without getting really angry, which I do less and less frequently. But yesterday, when he said “we have nominated the wrong candidate”, yesterday, was the last straw. No more Mark Levin for me. He needs to hold his criticism of Trump until AFTER the election. He is still crying over Cruz and the fact that most Americans (sadly) don’t care about our Constitution. Instead of manning up to defeat Hillary from the get go, he is standing on his pride and his ego. Sad. How a true patriot and a lover of the Constitution can do anything but support Trump all out in this particular election is mind blowing.

I always find it strange Freepers rant and rave about Levin for not supporting Trump...

You know, I don't mind "not supporting" Trump; there are plenty of people who aren't sold on him... but what really gets me about Levin is his pushing of Cruz despite the obvious lack of qualification (well, certainly lack of obvious qualification); it forced me to consider/acknowledge that he's the sort of constitutionalist who cites the Constitution when he agrees w/ it, and ignores it when he doesn't or it's inconvenient — the fact plainly is that in order to be at all meaningful the Constitution has to be respected when it's inconvenient.*

* Example: The NSA's domestic espionage. [Bureaucratically speaking] It's so easy to simply grab everyone's internet usage rather than obtain a warrant that specifically delineates the who and what of the case. (Compare and contrast to the 4th Amendment.)

It would seem that it is Levin who needs the convincing!

I am sorry, but anyone going against Trump now is not the friend of FR or conservatism, they have another agenda.

John’s show has a variety of guests including the pro-Russian Stephen Cohen and plenty of insiders and policy wonks including those of the John McCain-Hillary Clinton type people who literally tell me what ‘the enemy is thinking’.

Agreed. He is usually VERY well prepared to discuss and interview each guest. And most of his guests are leading figures or possess good expertise. And he maintains the program on a civil note (!)....
Anyone who doesn’t like his program probably gets bored with a particular topic (each interview discussion can go on for maybe 30 to 90 minutes, he doesn’t jump around .., he gives each topic a good airing)
..
or of course many people like loud shouting and insults (as is evident from the popularity of a couple of the leading radio talk shows, ha!)

but if you can grit through (or just turn out) for a topic you aren’t interested in.....and tune back in for future topics, Bachelor is very well worth listening to, imho.
