OPINION: NFL's Kaepernick Insults Americans, Law Enforcement Officers Everywhere
Fox News.com ^ | August 29, 2016 | Scott G. Erickson

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ignited a social media firestorm Saturday after he refused to stand during the playing of the National Anthem before Friday night’s pre-season game against the Green Bay Packers.

In a post-game press conference, Kaepernick explained his reasoning for the overt act of disrespect toward both the American flag and the United States.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick said after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Kaepernick appeared to be echoing both a broader condemnation of race relations in the United States as well as a veiled commentary on his apparent belief that the American law enforcement community is engaging in systemic, racially motivated murder.

Kaepernick’s comments weren’t just an insult to the over one million Americans -- many thousands of whom were African-American -- who have given their lives in defense of the United States from wars as far back as the American Revolution to the more recent conflicts in the Middle East.

The ungrateful prick has been babied, pampered, coddled his entire life, give more opportunities than he deserves and yet he hates this country. Since he has made it very clear what he thinks of the U.S., I highly recommend that the new President Trump give him a one way ticket out to some country in the middle east where he can then expound his dislike for America. At least then he would have a reason to hate us.

GTFO then. Leave your NFL money bag at the door though for redistribution. You wouldn’t want to be labeled one of those evil capitalists now would you?

So much for team unity - one for all and all for one - how is the team going to handle this??

Yet another reason why I’ve grown to hate everything the NFL stands for (which includes virtually every anti-American, anti-liberty liberal cause on the face of the earth)...

Kaepernick should stand for the Anthem which gives him the opportunity to sit through it.

Even football is becoming infected by political correctness.

Do that in Iran and you would be shot, Kappy. You protest under the blanket of freedom that you insult.

Time to move on from douchebag Kaepernick. My only complaint is that the NFL doesn’t punish him. If he’d made an anti-gay slur, it’d be his ass.

“So much for team unity - one for all and all for one - how is the team going to handle this??”

In the real world he would have already been put on waivers. In this world, the team owner is being hounded by congress as to why they need to fire the coach to promote diversity amongst all football players.

This is why we see things like players wearing BLM shirts and nothing happening to them, but supporting the police by putting a sticker on the helmet is a federal offense.

I shouldn’t (and don’t) care what Colin Kapwhatzit does or doesn’t do during the playing of the National Anthem...

Why is this important? Who the hell is this guy that we should care what he thinks or does?

I’m a veteran, and I DON’T LIKE what our current government does or represents on a multiple of subjects (that are different to Colon’s)... So on that topic, I’m indifferent.

This idiot football player has every right to sit if he chooses and the rest of us should have the right to be blissfully unaware of his actions or opinions.

Someone benefits from this nonsensical media circus, and it isn’t “us”.

Maybe we should think about where the narrative is headed before we become too invested in this show.

Well since he is a converted Muslim he should just emigrate to Iran, or even some other worse Muslim country and stay there.

You are right that he does have the right to sit. However, we also have the right to loudly call him the asshole that he is, which is what I expect the Charger fans on Thursday to do. One other side effect from this BS publicity stunt, is that some are now questioning the continued use of the Star Spangled Banner as our National Anthem. Without effective leadership to stop it, the left will continue its relentless campaign until the country has been “fundamentally transformed.”

The team hasn't done anything for the past two years. This is from 2014.
