Homeland eyes special declaration to take charge of elections
Washington Examiner ^ | 8/30/16 6:34 PM | Paul Bedard

Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a "critical infrastructure," giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid.

The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.

"We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.

"There's a vital national interest in our election process, so I do think we need to consider whether it should be considered by my department and others critical infrastructure," he said at media conference earlier this month hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

The Obama regime has been testing us for seven years, a little here, a little there, dry runs. They have assessed how the people will react and they have found, the people won’t do anything. We haven’t and we won’t.

This is lawsuit bait. There is a legitimate national security interest in protecting critical data such as election results. HOWEVER, elections are a state issue, the federal government has limited authority, even the Civil Rights Act was limited to certain states and is of comparatively limited scope.

There is no reason voting needs to be at risk, in Texas I voted using an optical scan ballot (fill in the circle), in Ohio, we used punch cards, in Kentucky I used a mechanical voting machine. None of these methods require the internet. New technology is not always the best solution.

“It is nothing more than Brown Shirted Thugism.”

Totally agree. This has the makings of something really bad.

They don’t want to control the elections. They just want all the ballots sent to a secret location where they can oversee the count and make sure it’s conducted properly.

Good luck with that plan, look how easily Clinton rigged her email system and operated it for so long before anyone found out she was doing it. The elections will be a thing of the past before HLS can take charge.

Picture ids, paper ballots, blue thumbs, one bonded dem and one bonded pub accompany every box of completed ballots to the counting location, conducted in public. No counts reported until all counts are completed.

We haven’t and we won’t.

I can understand the sentiment and your thinking that way but there have been increasing acts of resistance - states' rights on land use with Bureau of Land Management, for one - not widespread, but there nonetheless. The groundswell for Trump has been another.

When you lose the good will of the rank and file silent majority out here, you lose your power, IMO. You lose the moral authority, your patriotic provenance and your credibility.

Just imagine how a federal police force in local areas would end up being treated - no better than local police in any urban setting at some point. In the end, there is no way they can ever outnumber enough pissed off citizens.

As I stated in another post, the elites have apparently realized that simple voter fraud alone won’t carry the day for Hitlery, so Obama and Jeh are going to ride in on their black horse and save the day.

"Frankly, this is a declaration of war by the Federal Government against the citizens of the United STATES of America. This federal government is not God, nor does it have the right to subsume rights reserved to the STATES. It is war."

I completely agree with you on this....

The progressives (globalist) are pushing every button they find, trying to push us to the very edge of revolt...

It seems the American people have become so soft that nothing will make them stand up and defend their country and constitution.... Much like Germany and Sweden we are just going to let the global tyrants destroy everything...

It's going to be the dark ages all over again.....

"...If they do this, things will go dark...."

Things are planned to go dark after Oct. 1st, when we lose control of the internet.

You know, just in time for the elections.

Trump is winning. The media is trying to hide that.

When/if the internet becomes useless, it still doesn’t mean that local interaction will be lost. They don’t have enough snitches to blanket this entire country with plants.

I see on October 1st everything staying the same even if ICANN was to take over.

The reality is that ICANN is a private organization and weak in enforcement.

The Feds have no business interfering with elections which belong to the states.

I do not see any changes happening after October 1st, it will all stay the same.

Got to remember that ICANN is a private organization, the USA never really owned the internet to begin with, and it is a cultural organization with weak enforcement powers.
