IRS doesn’t tell 1M taxpayers that illegals stole their Social Security numbers

The IRS has discovered more than 1 million Americans whose Social Security numbers were stolen by illegal immigrants, but officials never bothered to tell the taxpayers themselves, the agency’s inspector general said in a withering new report released Tuesday.

Investigators first alerted the IRS to the problem five years ago, but it’s still not fixed, the inspector general said, and a pilot program meant to test a solution was canceled — and fell woefully short anyway.

As a result, most taxpayers don’t learn that their identities have been stolen and their Social Security files may be screwed up.

“Taxpayers identified as victims of employment-related identity theft are not notified,” the inspector general said.

The report alarmed lawmakers on Capitol Hill, who were shocked that the IRS had gone for so long without fixing the issue.

The Social Security Administration has known about multiple use of numbers for decades - ever since there have been computers. This isn’t rocket science; the reason they don’t tell the original owner is that they LIKE whatever FICA contributions they get from illegals they’ll “supposedly never have to pay off in retirement.”

It is highly likely that they keep a separate sub account for the original owner and all the illegal users. Why? Because they don’t want the original owner to get credited for income they didn’t earn, but for which FICA was paid by the illegals. It is all one big damn scam, and if these illegals get citizenship, they’ll be banging on SSA’s doors demanding retirement credit for the fraudulent use/payments.

The same folks who immediately send threatening letters if you are $5 in arrears on your taxes. Everything in Washington is corrupted. IRS, FBI, DOJ, EPA, State Department, Pentagon. If it’s not bureaucrats ignoring the law to advance the political agenda of their masters, then it’s outright graft. Trump has an enormous task ahead of him because the bureaucracy will fight any attempt to clean house.

I have read our government sends the FICA taxes from illegals to Mexico, Guatemala, etc. instead of shoring up our legal ‘trust fund’.

I wouldn’t put it past them. Do you have a source for that? I’d really like to know if you can remember.

The article through me off, as it used 1M to mean ONE MILLION rather than ONE THOUSAND.

In law school there was a famous legal case where some small business ordered 1 thousand (1M) widgets, but accidentally ordered 1 MILLION (1MM). When the truck came with 1,000,000 widgets and a bill, it wound up leading to a landmark case. I believe the court thought the seller should have realized the order was a typo, as he was a frequent customer who didn’t order such quantities.

I guess the use of M and MM have changed (outside of motion picture copyrights).

And here’s the best part. That illegal can put you on the hook if it’s discovered he earned money but didn’t pay taxes on it. There was a case a few years ago where a taxpayer was was sent a notice from the IRS that they owed $4,000. They were threatened; their bank accounts frozen and had to go to court to prove their innocence. All because a Mexican illegal used their social security number to get a job. This is complete BS.

Our government is helping fraudulently documented foreigners and their employers to rip off Americans.

A number of years back a story was kicked around here.

Seems a lady in Washington state was getting calls from a collection agency. Somebody in another state used her SSN to get a job and car loan which they defaulted on.

The SSA wouldn’t tell her squat because of “privacy” issues even though it was her account number.

I seem to recall a case where the IRS specifically denied a victim of identity theft the funds that were paid into the account by an illegal worker. I think the IRS (or the crook himself) were trying to get that money to go to the crook.

If your credit card number is stolen and used, good luck trying to convince the retailers to tell you what address the purchases were shipped to (even though it is YOUR account number).

I’d really like to know if you can remember......I read it in an article on here. It was about some of the concessions we make to Mexico with this borderless country crap that costs us taxpayers. In the middle of the article it said something about unclaimed FICA taxes being sent to Mexico, et al. Google does not list this. I’ve brought this up before and if you know how to get into my posting history, there might be lead to it.

“If your credit card number is stolen and used, good luck trying to convince the retailers to tell you what address the purchases were shipped to (even though it is YOUR account number).”

I can’t remember if it was the retailer or the credit card company who told me the name and address but a fraudulent charge by someone with a different name and an address in a different state went right through no problem.

shows you how little security there is with a credit card.

had the same problem with an online WalMart transaction shipped to a “Mohamad” at a delivery service box in another state.
