we had no phone calls. He even screwed the call up when he got there along with many other marines , due to the shouting by the drill instructors. He never knew what hit him as he got off that bus LOL. We are so excited to see our new marine. Was your son at parris island too?
I had one phone call when he arrived, just to say he was there, and one call about 2 weeks before graduation, just confirming he was on target to be promoted and to ask if we planned to come, only the briefest conversation. My son was at San Diego. My husband’s two sons went through PI, as did he. His father was in USMC in WWII at Peleliu. My husband and I met through the USMC parents’ internet board, then my son and his younger were roommates after my son completed infantry school.
Congratulations! That sounds similar to when my son joined the Air Force, four years ago. I was so impressed at the ceremony; all kids should have military training instead of the crap that they are fed with in today’s schools.
It’s thrilling to see all those young people instilled with a sense of maturity and comradery!
