San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he refused to stand during the national anthem Friday due to his views on the country's treatment of racial minorities.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media after Friday's game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

Average overpaid affirmative action QB. The NFL has destroyed the league with pushing these 9-lives losing QBs for far too long!

You have to be kidding me.

Good God, it’s ‘68 Olympics all over again.

These people SO WANT to be victims. They envy their ancestors, want the martyrdom.

Is he protesting bad treatment of minorities BY MINORITIES? Black on black crime is ridiculous in this country. Maybe he has a point.

The same you do when you sit there like a mushroom watching millionaire and billionaire politicians and businessmen.

I’m sure you watched Bush and Romney talk or watched those debate. That’s more of a sucker deal than sports could ever be.

What asinine responses to liking sports.

His competitor is starting against Green Bay Sunday.

Kapernick is no longer the starting QB of the 49'ers.

Trade bait, if anyone wants him. Just pick up his existing contract and he's yours.

Does he mean the current way minorities treat each other of their own race?
I’m sure this gem of a guy will donate a ton of his money to the poor and to educate against minority on minority crime.

K’s contract was actually bigger than that, but NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed like MLB’s are.

He’ll have to get by on the $25 or so million he’s already collected. Given his attitude, I’d guess he’ll blow through whatever he makes and end up broke soon enough.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."

According to wiki source "Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Heidi Russo, a 19-year-old woman who was single and destitute at the time. His birth father, an African American, was out of the picture before he was born."

Well at least Ms Winfrey has a solution.. what does this guy suggest doing?

If it is bigger than football, put your money where your mouth is and quit football.
