Sarah Jessica Parker has stepped down as the face of pharma company Mylan after it emerged the company had raised the price of its life-saving EpiPens by 548 per cent. In a post on Instagram Thursday, the 'Sex and the City' actress said she was 'disappointed, saddened and deeply concerned' and called for Mylan to reverse the price hike. Her announcement came the same day that the beleaguered company - which has faced an outpouring of scorn since the price increase came to light - was challenged by Senator Joe Manchin, father of Mylan CEO Heather Bresch.

Not really. Raising the price 548 percent, then cutting it in half "for the needy" is still a 275% increase, or nearly a quadrupling in the price. Isn't it good strategy to reap the benefits of an extremely outrageous price increase for a time, then cut it back to merely outrageous, get credit for listening, and collect some more?
This is a government created monopoly on a product that is essential (inelastic demand) for those who need it, combined with in many cases a government-controlled payor--private or public insurance.
That is, until Obamacare, with its high deductibles, which made many individuals in need of the Epi-Pen pay directly.
She may not have been paid at all since the price increase went into effect.
