He’s a pro China “socialist” and “leftist” by his own admission. Who likes killing people to terrify any opposition. And by his own words, someone who “has hatred” for the United States. Who called China’s Xi a “great leader”.

Also, a lot Filipinos don’t love him.

Freepers have gotten really dumb if they support this guy.

I think you don't know what you're talking about.

By your logic, Donald Trump must be an isolationist bigot and never allowed near the White House.

When you find your utopian planet, can I come to visit ?

Duterte takes the phrase “drug war” very seriously, treating drug pushers and suppliers not as criminals but as the enemy. It’s a great risk, because rights once lost are rarely regained, but the present way is not working here, and wasn’t working there.

Most don't understand nor agree with what you just said, but the truth is ... too much clock has ticked all over the world and we ARE in a global crisis of evil.

Each nation is challenged and each nation must take a stand.

In just a few short years ....

ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, (etc.)

The fact that you made this about Trump after the first post tells me you really don't want to see what Dutarte is doing.

Do you really think we should implement something like this in the U.S.

So you would give the POTUS such power?

I guess TSA, Homeland Security etc. didn't go far enough.

In the USA in the early 20th century, a number of bad actors were gunned down in rhe streets including a rash if violent robbers and gangs. Remember that John Dilllinger was sneak shot in the head from behind, right in the street with people all around, and Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed by a Fed led posse on a country road. When bad actors refuse to play by any rules except rules they may benefit themselves, sometimes the only option is to suspend the rules. Philippines is in a desperate situation and has been for a very long time. Due process is nothing but a game, and only petty criminals ever go to jail. I think Filipinos are willing to tolerate some of this activity if it will serve to quell some of the chaos that has reigned in thier country for about 50 years now.

They love him in the Philippines

Yes they do bro. My wife and her whole family, and all their many relatives, voted for him too. So far they are happy with him. One has to live in Davao City, like me, to get a feel for what the people think. They have had it up to their necks with crooked politicians, lawyers, media types, and cops, taking their cut of the drug money. Drugs cause for a lot of violence (not all of it) I don't know if he clean up the whole country the way he cleaned up Davao City, but he will try.
I never met Duterte in person, but I know Americans and Europeans who have. They seemed to indicate he is hostile to the UN, the western media, Obama and Kerry. I am a little hostile to all those mentioned too. The Philippine media are about as bad as the US media. You can't trust them.
By the way, the lag lag bala scandals totally disappeared. I wonder why? I did, however, have to be critical. When those two Canadians were killed by Abu Sayaff, he didn't like it, but didn't seem to react much, until a young Filipino kid was also killed a couple days ago. Now, he vows to wipe out Abu Sayaff too. No one else ever seemed to want to do that either. Let's see where it goes from here.
By the way, I was telling my wife about the welfare state that the US has become. She said that was about the dumbest thing she ever heard. In the Philippines, they don't give money to people so they don't have to work.

Your post is most valuable my FRiend, for the proper perspective on a man trying to do a good job.

I did not gravitate towards Duterte immediately .. until I read his WIKI page and saw that "death squad" thing and read his unabashed comments.

Trump had just shown up in American politics at the same time and in almost identical circumstances.

THIS 29th Pisces is attuned enough to sit up and go, WHOA !

A few weeks ago, 3 drug dealers were killed, just up the street, actually, a couple miles up the street, but whose counting. I forgot to mention, at least in Davao City, there are tons of foreigners. He would tend to get downright angry if people mess with the foreigners living here. They don’t want to screw up their cash cow, as these people bring their money here.

I agree with my friend Knarf. Thank you for your insight. My Pinay and their families also voted for Duterte. They still support him.

I hope he and President Trump meet early on, so they can learn first hand about each other, rather than rely on the skewed garbage vomited by both countries media.

I think they will, and you are right about the media of both countries. I would say "vomit" is a good choice of words, but then again, I don't want to insult "vomit" by comparing it to the media. 😃😆😄

No ... they didn't.

Almost ALL elected officials are (if they are not known beforehand) liked or tolerated until the bad ones show they're bad.

The Philippines never liked Marcos
