Brewing tropical storm may threaten Bahamas, Florida as a hurricane (Hermine)
AccuWeather ^ | August 24, 2016 | Alex Sosnowski

A budding tropical disturbance has the potential to strengthen significantly and reach Florida and the Bahamas with strong winds, coastal flooding and torrential rainfall during Sunday and Monday.

Only one of two active Atlantic tropical systems poses a significant threat to land during the next 10 days. That system, dubbed 99L, has the potential to become Tropical Depression Eight and Tropical Storm Hermine this week.

The disturbance, currently located about 1,000 miles southeast of Miami, is forecast to take a general west to west-northwest path near Puerto Rico on Wednesday night and near Hispaniola on Thursday.

"The exact track of 99L will have a big impact on when the system strengthens," according to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski.

All that standing water... good for the zika bugs, which will wreck the winter tourism industry. But Obummer will show up with Hillary! because Southeast FL is the democrats voter and money base in Floriduh.

I’m NOT evacuating. According to forecast it should still be a tropical storm IF it hits here. At most a lot of rain.

Is channel 7 broadcasting from Home Depot yet? Turnoff the TV, buy more beer.

Good source of reasonable info:

hope the storm steers clear of the Ft. Lauderdale area. I am sitting here in St.Pete and am warily watching this as well.I do fear that this is either an Andrew or a Charlie. remember that Andrew mostly dissipated of one evening only to roar back to life the very next day. It destroyed Homestead AFB, Miami and southern FL. next it trashed New Orleans and the gulf coast.

The water in the Gulf is hurricane jet fuel.

It’s beyond warm.

It’s like bath water and hasn’t been stirred up yet.

This one could get interesting.

Or it may not.

And it really isn’t going to have time to develop into much.

I’m in the Keys. We get some of it no matter what. Maybe a direct hit since it is pointing right at my house right now.

Don’t do it,the cruise lines are too broke to cancel but I wouldn’t go.IMagine crusingin 20-40 foot seas, no fun.
four days out none of the spaghettis have this thing over cuba. That means it keeps getting bigger and badder before it hits us.

[Don’t do it]

One of my friends was on a cruise with 40 foot seas. They were tossed all over the dining hall. Some had broken bones from the ordeal. Afterward, the cruise line gave everyone a complementary cruise.
