I vaguely remember Sambos. I always looked forward eating there. I think because of the little boy. I’m not sure but I think they gave kids like something to color when you were seated.

How about Farrell’s? I loved that place because of all the cool ice cream plates they offered and especially it was cool if it was your birthday.

I think the only Sambos that still exists is in Santa Barbara, CA.

I’ll have to stop there on the way the next time we visit my F-I-L in Solvang.

There was a Farrell's ice cream in Woodfield Mall in the70's. A whole bunch of us would go there on a Sunday night after Sunday night church. A number of times there'd be some of us guys doing the Pig Tough challenge. Eat a Pigs Trough in under 1-1/2 minutes and get it free. After a while they changed it to 1 minute. (didn't matter)

The record was 34 seconds. My personal best was 38 (Yes, I did it MULTIPLE times, to have a personal best)

One night a buddy and I decided to try 2 in one night. We made the mistake of telling them we were going to try 2, so they brought the second ones out about 1 minute after the first ones were done. Still made it, but the afterwards wasn't much fun.

6 scoops of ice cream, 2 whole bananas and all the toppings.

We got a brand new farrells about a mile or so from the house its way to noisy and chaotic for my tastes but hey im not a youngin anymore
