I remember when this pogrom was going on. I was sitting in my private club in NYC next to a liberal Jewish friend of mine. He was completely indifferent to the fate of those Jews because he despised Hasidim. It turned out that this person was a very bad person in other respects but I remember my shock and fury at his attitude.
